The Nigeria Police Force has stated that it will preserve the country’s democracy at any cost.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, offered the guarantee in a statement to newsmen on police readiness for the state’s governors-elect’s swearing-in ceremony on May 29, 2023.

He stated the police will not accept any attempt to foment tension in order to derail or confuse the governorship inauguration on May 29, 2023.

The statement read “I’m sternly warning all political actors who have a subversive agenda to rescind from such an agenda.”

The Command also warned touts, describing them as collaborators and foot soldiers being exposed to political radicalization and extremism to henceforth, jettison their plans.

“Therefore, any person regardless of his or her political affiliations that continuously engages in acts that are inimical to our nation’s democratic and security interests will be dealt with.”

“The Nigeria Police, relevant security agencies are committed to defending our democracy, keep the order of internal security and ensure stability and optimally deploy our common unique assets towards guaranteeing the successful conduct of the inauguration ceremony.”

CP Gumel encouraged the public to work with security forces to ensure a successful transfer.
