Senator representing Abia North, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu has faulted the claim by a former Senator of the district, Mao Ohuabunwa that he (Mao) attracted the reconstruction of Arochukwu-Ohafia Road, saying there is no truth in such a claim.

Describing Ohuabunwa as a colossal failure who has no idea of what he was sent to Abuja to do, Sen. Kalu while featuring on a radio programme on Sun FM at his Igbere hometown monitored by ABN TV, said the road in question was attracted by him (Kalu) and the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Uko Nkole, adding that it was not abandoned as claimed by Ohuabunwa.

He said, “Mao Ohuabunwa never attracted any project. He was a colossal failure who did not know why he was sent to Abuja. Hon. Uko Nkole and I fought for Arochukwu Ohafia road. The contract we have is from Ohafia to Ihechiowa. There was crisis in the family of the contractor when he died and that affected the road project. Mao Ohuabunwa is a failure blaming me for insecurity in Abia North. He did not talk about those with the constitutional right to secure its citizens except trying to play politics with my name.”

On the issue of the Amended Electoral Act, he said: “I didn’t oppose it. I was among those that championed for its amendment and signing. We have areas in Abia North where there is no network. We all agreed to pass the Electoral Act. I didn’t reject the amendment of the Electoral Act. We asked NCC to improve network services across the nation.”

On his New Year visit to the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, he said: “I don’t play politics of bitterness. Ude Oko Chukwu is my brother. We have been friends for many years and I am free to visit my brother irrespective of party affiliations.”
