A few hours later, authorities discovered a severed finger with a silver ring on it and the fingertip missing.

The next day, a torso devoid of organs was discovered at the mouth of a canal leading into the sea.

The canal runs directly in front of Jose Faustino Sanchez Carrion National University, where Villafuerte is a student.

In addition, forensic scientists established that the victim’s face had been removed by someone skilled with surgical instruments.
