The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 45-year-old man, Ahmed Aliyu, who was fatally stabbed by unknown attackers in Hammadu Kafi, located in Akko Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, the incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday and was reported later that night at approximately 11:00 p.m. by the victim’s relative, Bashir Umar.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim sustained fatal stab wounds to the left side of his chest and back,” Abdullahi said. “He was taken to the Gombe Specialist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.”

Describing the attack as “senseless and unwarranted,” the police said they have launched an intelligence-driven investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.

“We strongly condemn this heinous crime,” Abdullahi stated. “Efforts are underway to identify, trace, and arrest those responsible so they can face the full weight of the law.”

The command urged residents to remain calm and assist with the investigation by providing any useful information that could help uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
