The minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike-led Peoples Democratic Party, Lagos State chapter has suspended former deputy national chairman of the party, Bode George, along with 23 other members over alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension was announced in a statement issued on Friday and signed by the chairman of the party’s disciplinary committee in Lagos State, Kayode Ogunbiyi, and the committee’s secretary, Desmond Agbo.
According to the statement, the action was taken after the party concluded that it could no longer tolerate activities capable of creating division and disaffection among its members.
The disciplinary committee said the decision followed its meeting of May 26, 2026, during which it reviewed a number of petitions alleging anti-party activities and violations of the PDP constitution.
“The decision to suspend George and other erring members was contained in the resolution of the meeting held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, where various petitions were presented against certain notable personalities and other members bordering on issues of anti-party activities and deliberate infractions of the PDP Constitution,” the statement read in part.
The committee also said it revisited an earlier disciplinary action reportedly taken against George by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and upheld the decision.
“The Committee also reviewed the action previously taken against former Chief Olabode George by the National Executive Committee, which suspended him from the party, and reaffirmed that he remains suspended as earlier pronounced,” it added.
Also affected by the suspension are Aduke Maina, Abimbola Ogunkelu, Laja Adeoye, Tunji Shele, Sunday Olaifa, Gbenga Adegbesan, Rita Orji, Kofoworola Bucknor and Onikepo Oshodi, among others.
The statement noted that the disciplinary committee also examined cases involving members allegedly working with rival political parties or participating in unauthorised political activities considered detrimental to the interests of the PDP.
It further stated that all suspended members would no longer be allowed to participate in party activities within Lagos State or represent the PDP in any official or unofficial capacity.
