The apex youth body of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC has berated the federal government over the killing of members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB in South East region, cautioning that this will further escalate the growing insecurity in the region.

OYC took a swipe at the security forces for the unprofessional manner at which issues of security are handled in the region, insisting that amnesty for IPOB members as it suggested earlier will bring insecurity under check.

Speaking with newsmen in Owerri on Tuesday April 27, 2021, the National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council(OYC), Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, also described the attack on Gov. Hope Uzodinma’s house as unfortunate and unacceptable, pointing out that violence in any form in Igbo land should be avoided by every means necessary, a statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to OYC National President Chukwuemeka Chimerue Ucheagu said.

Comrade Igboayaka he said noted that “nothing under the sun can be hidden, every secret plan must be unveiled.” He warned the few political elements planning and sponsoring attacks against Governor Uzodinma should retrace their steps and embrace peace or be ready to contend with those who believes in the governor and Imo people at large.

“Those working to make Imo state ungovernable to Sen. Hope Uzodinma should wake up from their naïve state of mind, or face the worst humiliation, because every necessary plan has been made to checkmate them and bring them to face justice,” Igboayaka advice.

He added that “the Nigerian government that killed Ikonso and other IPOB members has demonstrated unprofessionalism in handling the situation. Ohanaeze Youth Council in the past proposed amnesty for Eastern Security Network and to integrate them into the mainstream security network in the various communities but FG have failed to implement the proposal, because President Muhammadu Buhari and Aso Rock cabals are not interested in peace and unity in Nigeria.”

He pointed out that killing of IPOB members have escalated the security challenges in Igbo land, saying that “the security agents went on poor operation; the approach in engaging IPOB and ESN should have a new friendly and diplomatic way.”

Igboayaka maintained that “by the killing of the IPOB members, the FG have murdered sleep and stepped on the tail of a lion, they have declared war against Ndigbo.

Comr. Igboayaka appealed to Ipob and caution Emma Powerful not to link Prof. George Obiozor to the death of Ikonso and other Ipob members, and pointed out that Prof. Obiozor is a true definition of Biafra Emancipation.

“Anyone with sense of history ought to know the role Prof. Obiozor played in President Shagari administration to brought Dim Odimegwu Ojukwu back to Nigeria. Dim Odimegwu Ojukwu return to Nigeria after the War was the brain child of Prof. George Obiozor, therefore Obiozor who played such role can’t in anyway stand against Ipob members” Igboayaka recounted.

“The approach of the Nigerian government over IPOB and ESN issues is characterised by hate and injustice against Ndigbo. If Boko haram and banditry gangs are treated like kings in the North, IPOB/ESN who are merely seeking for separation and protection of their father’s land should also be treated like kings. If Boko haram and bandits are assigned for rehabilitation, IPOB members must be treated with dialogue and negotiation,” Igboayaka pointed.

Comr Igboayaka reminded President Mohammadu Buhari that his failure to listen to professional advice of State Security Service(SSS) on Pro-Biafra agitation is what is lingering more crises in Nigeria, he therefore urged the State and Federal government to immediately call IPOB for dialogue, or both the IPOB and FG will plunge Nigeria into an uncontrollable national disaster.
