The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 27 suspected criminals following a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in the Kawo area of Kaduna metropolis.
During the operation, which involved multiple security agencies, authorities recovered dangerous weapons and illicit substances, including knives, axes, cutlasses, and large quantities of suspected Indian hemp and other hard drugs.
In a statement released on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrests and described the operation as part of a wider effort to rid Kaduna of criminal elements.
“The operation was carried out in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police to identify, dismantle, and eliminate criminal hideouts threatening peace and public safety in some parts of the state,” Hassan said.
According to him, the raid was conducted jointly by the police, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Kaduna State Vigilante Service. It targeted various locations within and around Kawo.
“On Sunday around 10:30 p.m., a joint tactical team swept through several parts of Kawo and its surroundings. The operation led to the arrest of 27 suspects and the recovery of several weapons and hard drugs,” Hassan stated.

- Large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp
- Other unidentified hard drugs
Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring peace and security across the state. He also urged residents to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and credible information.
