Charging an iPhone from 0% to 100% might take up to four hours.
Given our addiction to our phones, those few hours might feel like a lifetime.
However, IT experts, including Verizon, have revealed a simple trick that will charge your smartphone four times faster and charge it to 90 percent in just one and a half hours.
The key is in the settings; simply switch to Airplane Mode when charging.
When you put your phone in Airplane Mode, it stops using cellular, Bluetooth, radio, and Wi-Fi features that deplete your battery in the background.
When you enable Airplane Mode, which is required of passengers on planes, all wireless communication protocols are disabled.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) website’s Safety Information page: ‘The FCC and FAA ban cell phones for airborne use because its signals could interfere with critical aircraft instruments.
‘Devices must be operated in airplane mode or without a cellular connection.’
However, the United Kingdom and the European Union allow airlines to provide 5G service to passengers in the air, and certain US airlines also give internet access while in the air.
Airplane Mode may be found in the Settings app’s main menu for iOS users.
The feature will be visible at the top of the screen after you open Settings.
After you’ve enabled Airplane Mode, go to Settings > Battery and enable Low Battery Mode, which will help enhance charging speed.
Apple is expected to release the new iPhone 15 next month, with charging speeds of up to 35W – substantially faster than the iPhone 14, which has a charging speed of only 20W.
This means that the next smartphone might charge from 0 to 100% in just one hour, saving customers valuable time if they are in a hurry.
9to5Mac broke the story, citing ‘industry sources,’ though it’s unclear if all iPhone 15 models would enable 35W charging.
The base model, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max are all scheduled to be unveiled by Apple.
‘According to those acquainted with the topic, the iPhone 15 is rumored to support charging with up to 35W,’ according to the article.
‘At least some of the new iPhone 15 models can be recharged with up to 35W, allowing for even quicker charging speeds on the new phones,’ says Apple.
The amount of power given to a phone’s battery is measured in watts; however, if the phone does not support the charging rate, it will not be able to charge any quicker and will waste energy.
Because the iPhone 14 Pro can only charge at 27W, it takes about two hours to fully charge – and connecting it into a 35W charger will not speed up charging.
