Member representing Bende Federal Constituency, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has said he will show example as a representative of a multitude of people and not descend low or allow people to publicly attack his opponent in the 2019 election, Mr. Chima Anyaso.
The lawmaker who is also the official Spokesperson of the House of Representatives was reacting to an infantile attitude brandished by Chima Anyaso, PDP candidate whom he has serially defeated to emerge and remain Bende Federal Constituency representative.
Speaking on a radio programme, Ben Kalu’s Mandate streamed live by ABN TV, Hon. Kalu expressed regret that after visiting him for a photo shoot, Chima Anyaso who was assumed to have come to mend fences with Hon. Kalu released the photo on the social media where he said his visit to Hon. Kalu was movie acting.
Describing himself as loser Anyaso’s leader and big brother, Hon. Kalu assured that he would not waste time tearing him apart with verbal attacks in the public nor engage anyone to do so on his behalf like Chima Anyaso is known to do, saying he will continue to show maturity.
Recall that after defeating Chima Anyaso at the polls, Hon. Kalu floored him again at the tribunal and subsequently Appeal Court where he officially ended Anyaso’s day dream of representing the people of Bende.
He also trounced Anyaso who sponsored faceless individuals to institute a suit against him, alleging forgery of his primary school certificate.
He said, “For Example, If I was the one who took my opponent to court and he came to me to say let’s not waste money put the past behind us and forge ahead. And I tell him I like the way you have handled the case and not lambasting me in public, this was what Chima told me.
“He commended me he liked the way I have showed maturity during the tribunal, I said I do it because I am your big brother. As far back as 2007 you were coming to me for advice in the middle of the night. So why would I shred you all because of politics.
But the reverse is the case here. He still went ahead to sponsor someone to drag me to court, insulted my father and mother, paid people to write lies about me.”
He continued, “I was shocked that after receiving my brother from the constituency like I receive every other person from Bende, took photographs with him as he requested. Even though he did not discuss anything that has happened before, he didn’t say he came for peace, he didn’t state his mission, all he asked for photographs and I obliged.
“At a point, seeing the way he was all about photographs, I called my professional camera man to take good photographs. I was shocked to see what was released on the social media, I obliged because he is and will always be my brother, however, it is saddening the despicable things he had to say.
“I still cannot shred him in public because I am his leader and I need to show a certain level of maturity. I cannot descend as low as he went. His actions was wrong but I will not want anyone to go about attacking him. I do not hold it against him, I will keep setting the good examples for people to follow.”
