The Action Peoples Party (APP) governorship candidate in Abia State ahead of the 2023 general elections, Hon. Mascot Uzor Kalu has stated that his ambition to become the Governor of the state is not to be a liberator, but to be a unifier.

He stated this while appearing as a special guest on a live radio interview in Aba, which was monitored from our newsroom.

“I am not a judge. I am not coming to probe; I am coming to unify Abia and move the state forward.

“We are stronger when we are together; there are lots we can achieve.”

The former Abia state Chief of Staff traced the poor infrastructural development in the state to bickering and fighting amongst the political bigwigs.

Abia had a dream but we deviated when we started having quarrels amongst politicians. Truth be told, the quarrels had a lot on the development of Abia.”

According to him, one of the reasons he wants to be the Governor of Abia state is to restore the lost camaraderie between politicians and relevant stakeholders of the state.

One of the things that destroyed Abia was because the camaraderie between friends was no longer there. So, I want to restore that.

“I want to build a government where, whether you are a member of APP, PDP, APC, YPP, etc., the major interest should be to join hands together to move Abia forward”, he added.

Hon. Mascot says he has a knowledge of how the political quarrels in the state limit investments and employment opportunities for youths, noting that his effort to establish a business in the state in 2013 was frustrated.

“I recall that sometime in 2013 when I wanted to invest in the state, my business was frustrated because of the quarrels. We pulled out the funds and invested in other parts of the country.

“So, as long as we keep bickering and fighting, there will be limitations of investments in Abia state”.

I am here to correct the mistakes made; I am not here to be a liberator. I want to unify”, he concluded.
