ABSU’s administration has reinstated the institution’s previous school fees, which were paid by students.

Remember that the University allegedly raised school tuition from roughly N120,000 to N500,000, according to a pressure group called Mezie Abia.

According to the group, the hike was intended by Prof Maxwell Onyemachi-led University to deny underprivileged students their right to an education.

However, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu intervened and ordered the immediate termination of the school management’s excessive tuition fees regime.

Ikpeazu, who issued the directive through his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, stated that the parabolic growth in tuition was unacceptable to his administration, adding that impoverished students must be given an equal academic opportunity to access tertiary education.

ABSU issued a statement in response to Ikpeazu’s decision, instructing students to continue paying the previous school fees until further notice.
