South East youths under the aegis of Ohanaeze Youths Movement, has applauded the Court of Appeal ruling upholding the election of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.

Kalu also represents Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State and a two-term lawmaker.

Appeal Court sitting in Lagos had on Thursday dismissed the petition by the Action Alliance (AA) challenging the election of Kalu.

The apex Igbo youth group bemoaned the alleged involvement of former member of the House of Representatives and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, in the failed plot to remove Ben Kalu as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives by voiding his election.

National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Abia State, had in August struck out the matter after the AA candidate in the election, Ifeanyi Igbokwe, told the panel that he did not file any suit against Kalu.

It is wondering why the duo are unhappy that their tribesman is occupying such an important seat in government, which it said is a huge benefit to the Igbos.

The group, while warning Onyejeocha and Uzodimma to desist from actions that will undermine the administration of President Bola Tinubu and bring shame to the Igbos also demanded an apology for their alleged involvement in the failed plot to remove Hon. Kalu from the federal parliament.
