Igbo Community To Mark 2021 New Yam Festival With Award Of Excellence On Chief Apollos

All is now set for the 2021 Nnoko Ndigbo and iriji (new yam festival) of Igbo speaking community in Lagos.

This is even as the community announces that illustrious sons and daughters who have left an indelible footprint in the service of humanity will be honoured with an award of excellence.

Among those found worthy for this recognition is Chief Apollos Daniel Chukwuemeka who will be honoured with the Award Of Excellence In Humanitarian Services.

This our correspondent gathered is in recognition of his efforts in offering selfless services and lifting the weak and downtrodden.

Scheduled to take place on October 23, 2021, National Theatre Iganmu Lagos has been chosen as venue of this epoch-making event.

Earlier, a letter of invitation had been addressed to Chief Apollos, popularly known as Onwa British.

The latter dated 29th September, 2021 was jointly signed by the President General of the community, Chief Sir Cyril Sunday Eze, Chairman Organizing Committee, High Chief Jude Tony Ejeagha and Secretary Organizing Committee, Barr. Chinwe Nnedum.

It partly reads, “Your achievement in Humanitarian Services remains unequalled and indelible in the history of Nigeria in general and Ndigbo in particular.

“Your kind response to this Nnoko Ndigbo/Iriji (New Yam) Festival will be highly appreciated by the community.”

This is not the first time the Nvosi Isialangwa, Abia State born philanthropist has been recognized for his kindheartedness towards the downtrodden and vulnerable members of the society.

In 2020, he was also honoured by Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos.
