The member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency, Hon. Uko Nkole has commended the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola for releasing funds for the construction of the Bende-Ohafia-Arochukwu federal Road, Section 1as contained in the 2020 fiscal budget, ABN TV reports.

The contract which has been funded to the tune of over Six Hundred and Ninety Million naira (# 690,000,000) is being handled by HARTLAND NIGERIA LIMITED with Contract No: 6481.

Other projects in this category that received funding to enable the contractor return to site is the Bende-Abam-Ohafia Road.

Site visit on Thursday 20th February, 2020, revealed the section of the road from Old Soldier Junction, Ebem Ohafia to the boundary between Akanu Ohafia and Ebem Ohafia has been completed and asphalted with drainages.
Construction is also ongoing with drainages from Akanu Ohafia through Ndi Uduma Awoke in Ohafia LGA end into Ihechiowa in Arochukwu LGA.

Umuchiakuma section and part of Umuye all in Ihechiowa has been asphalted with drainages while other several stretch towards Obinto is massively receiving attention with culverts delivered and checking of gully erosion in Umuchiakuma axis which has improved traffic flow.

Rt. Hon. Nkole commends the Honorable Minister for Works and Housing, His Excellency, Babatunde Fashola, SAN for keeping to his words during his last interaction with him by ensuring timely release of funds to the contractor to remobilize to site once the rains stop.

The lawmaker also thanked Governor of Abia State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his continuous synergy with the Federal Government to ensure uninterrupted flow of dividends of democracy to the Federal Constituency.

In like manner, he wants to extend his gratitude to the contractor for the quality job being delivered , Road users and the communities for their patience and cooperation respectively and to reassure all that he shall continue to push for the completion of the reconstruction of Bende-Ohafia-Arochukwu Road.
