The High Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has sentenced Oluwatimileyin Ajayi to death by hanging for the murder of Salome Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Ajayi was convicted on a single count of culpable homicide, in violation of Section 221 of the Penal Code applicable in Northern Nigeria, which stipulates the death penalty for such an offense.
Delivering the judgment, Justice Simon Aboki found Ajayi guilty of intentionally killing and dismembering Adaidu, affirming that the prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
