JERUSALEM – The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the central Gaza Strip is no longer able to deal with the large number of dead and injured people who continue to show up there amid ongoing Israeli bombardment, its director, Dr. Iyad Abu Zaher, told NBC News.

He said dozens arrived as the result of recent bombing in the area, and ambulances continue to transport more, since people are still trapped under rubble.

“We call on the world to intervene to stop this aggression, supply hospitals with fuel and medical supplies immediately, and transport the wounded for treatment in Egypt,” Zaher said this morning.

The hospital is located in the southern half of Gaza, within the area the Israel Defense Forces has repeatedly instructed Gazans in the north to go for their own safety.
