Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has insisted that the governor-elect, Alex Otti has a hand in the recent freezing of the state government’s account, saying that will not hinder the payment of salaries to workers and contractors.
The governor in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barr. Eze Chikamnayo said Otti and his cohorts are targeting the Civil Servants in the freezing of the state accounts in various banks, insisting that he (governor) will discharge his obligations in the payment of workers in the next two months, same way he has done in the past seven years and above.
The state government in the statement said payment of workers has commenced, urging the people of the state to remain calm.
“Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, having dutifully met his obligations to over 29000 workers out of 31000 in the last seven years and more does not have any desire or reason not to do same in the only two months left of his administration.
“Happily, despite the primitive draconian tactics of the confused and presumptuous Labour Party mob, Government has commenced the payment of current salaries, so, nothing can be more deceitful than this kind of chicanery”, the statement said.
The state government also accused the governor-elect of engaging in a childish hide-and-seek game with his denial in freezing of the government account, urging him to come clean and stop deceiving the people of the state.
“Or, is a forced takeover of Government, lack of respect for constituted authority, lies, deceit, and this childish game of hide and seek being orchestrated in Abia going be the modus operandi of Labour Party’s first ever State in Government? Definitely, Peter Obi must be worried and embarrassed over this Gestapo disposition of Chief Alex Otti and his company!
“No responsible Government can be founded and ran on lies and propaganda. Abians and Nigerians may be in for a period of unprecedented lies, passing of buck, and deceit with official cloak under Alex Otti”, Chikamnayo stated.
