The federal fire service has approved the siting of a new fire station within the premises of the Ohafia Local Government Area headquarters.
This revelation was made by the Assistant Controller General of Fire, Karebo Pere Samson who led a delegation of Federal fire service officers on a facility visit to the Executive Chairman of Ohafia LGA, Dr Okorafor Ukiwe.
Mr. Karebo added that the choice of the headquarter premises was due to its size and the presence of security assets that will ensure the protection of the forthcoming station from vandalisation.
In his response, the chairman expressed his delight on the new development and promised to ensure that the fire station comes alive in the interest of not just Ohafia but the entire Abia North.
He used the opportunity to thank the Executive Governor of Abia State Dr Victor Okezie Ikpeazu for his decision to direct the delegation to Ohafia, ensuring that Abia North senatorial zone is equipped with a fire service station.
