Dashe Fatima Andat from Jos with a cumulative grade point average of 5.0, a student in the Accounting Department at the College of Management and Social Sciences, was named the best-graduating student at Covenant University for the 2021/2022 session.
At the Covenant University’s 2021/2022 Convocation on Friday, 206 students from Ota, Ogun State, received First-Class degrees.
During the 17th Convocation Ceremony and Conferment of First and Higher Degrees, as well as the distribution of prizes in Ota, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, made this announcement.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the institution had 1,934 graduates this academic year, and the convocation was dubbed “Release of Eagles for 2022.”
They included 257 post-graduate students, 107 first-class honors students (representing 6.38 percent), 744 second-class upper honours students (representing 44.36 percent), 620 second-class lower students (representing 36.97 percent), and 206 first-class honors students (12.28 percent).
According to Adebayo, the school had made the decision to develop a new generation of leaders who would bring back the lost grandeur of the black race as part of a rescue mission in education.
“After only two decades in operation, Covenant University has established itself as a premier institution of higher learning in the globe and the top choice for African students.
Dr. David Oyedepo, the institution’s chancellor, also addressed the graduates and challenged them to be responsible and productive in order to avoid becoming liabilities in the future.
Everyone, according to Oyedepo, bears full responsibility for how their lives turn out since greatness comes at a cost.
“Life begins with a vision, and nobody achieves a future they haven’t planned for. It’s time to get up and assume responsibility as soon as possible because responsibility is defined as a commitment to one’s vision, he said.
The chancellor pleaded with parents to let their kids be responsible so they wouldn’t become burdens in the future.
