Gernot Rohr, a former head coach of the Super Eagles, has agreed to a three-year contract to lead the Benin Republic national team.

Rohr will reportedly be introduced by the Benin Football Federation at a news conference on Friday, according to La Nouvelle Tribune.

Former Benin international Moussa Latoundji, who has been temporarily in command of the Squirrels, will hand the reins to the Franco-German.

Despite helping the Super Eagles advance to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final qualifying phase and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Rohr was fired by the Nigeria Football Association, NFF, in December 2021.

The gaffer has also led the national teams of Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, and Gabon.

His first priority will be assisting Benin in reaching the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
