Eid-el-Kabir: Fubara Urges Muslims To Pray For Peace, Unity In Nigeria

As Muslims around the world mark Eid-el-Kabir, Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has called on the faithful to reflect deeply on the festival’s core values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith—virtues exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to God.

In a heartfelt Sallah message, Governor Fubara urged Muslims in Rivers State and across Nigeria to pray for peace, unity, and national prosperity, especially in the face of ongoing economic challenges and security concerns.

“The spirit of Eid—rooted in forgiveness, compassion, and unity—should guide our daily actions and relationships,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of his wife and family, the governor encouraged Muslims to recommit themselves to the principles of sacrifice and faith, describing them as foundational for building a stable and united nation.

He emphasized the importance of charity during this sacred period, appealing to citizens to extend acts of kindness to the less fortunate and to use the season as an opportunity for reconciliation and healing.

Governor Fubara also acknowledged the resilience and patience of the people of Rivers State amid political and socio-economic trials. While noting that some aspirations remain unmet, he highlighted that meaningful progress has been achieved.

“We are taking practical steps to stabilize governance and revitalize our economy. Your concerns will be met with realistic and actionable solutions,” he assured.

He concluded by urging continued prayers for the peace and growth of Rivers State and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and improving the welfare of all residents.

Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of Islam’s most important celebrations and commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering obedience to God’s will.
