Direct Governorship Primary Election Of APC Ongoing In Abia, Any Indirect Mode Invalid — Ogah

Former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah has said direct primary election to vote in a governorship candidate of APC is about now going on in 184 wards in the state.

Ogah who spoke with ABN TV on Thursday took a swipe on those who allegedly conducted an indirect governorship primary election in the state, insisting that it is an illegality that cannot stand.

The former minister said some individuals camped people in a motor park and assembled them to come and endorse them as the governorship candidate of APC in Abia.

According to him, the national leadership of APC has approved direct mode of electing governorship candidates in Abia, Osun and Benue, adding that any indirect primary will not be recognised.

He challenged those who said they are popular among the people to canvass for their vote at the grassroot root through direct primaries.

Recall that a chieftain of APC in the state, Chief Ikechi Emenike was on Thursday declared winner of an indirect primary election which took place in Umuahia.

He polled a total of 672 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Emenike Atuma who got 150.

The Director General National Agricultural Land Development Authority, Paul Ikonne has also kicked against the indirect primary which produced Chief Ikechi Emenike, noting that it is an illegality that cannot stand.
