The Abia State government, South East Nigeria, has described as laughable an ex parte order by a Federal High Court in Abuja, restraining the State Judiciary Panel of Enquiry on Recovery of Government Property and Funds, from investigating former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

Briefing the Press in Umuahia, after the State Executive Council meeting, the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu wondered why an administration should be afraid of being probed.

Recall that the Court sitting in Abuja, the Nigerian capital recently granted the injunction following an application brought before it by counsel to Governor Ikpeazu and three other applicants.

The Commissioner also said the State government is poised to maintain academic standards by re-accrediting private schools in the State.

Kanu restated the determination of the Governor Alex Oti administration to fixing the roads in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State, which he believes will attract more investors.
