The APC candidate for House of Representatives, Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Chief Dan Okeke has appealed to the youths in Ohafia to sheath their sword as he has initiated efforts to restore lasting peace in the community.

This follows an incessant crisis between the community and the military which according to him has led to the loss of lives on both sides and the destruction of property.

While underlining that some level of provocation may have taken place which led to the crisis, High Chief Okeke in a release on Sunday expressed hope that all parties only desire peace, appealing that they should give peace a chance.

“I know what we all want and desire is peace, development, and security of our people and I can assure you all that I have already started making every necessary move to restore lasting peace”, he said.

High Chief Okeke also assured that his efforts will include ensuring the release of arrested community members as well and making sure none of the people suffers any form of victimization or harassment from the security agents.

To this end, he said the root cause of the crisis must be tackled but urged all parties to give peace a chance for the good and benefit of the community.
