The City Boy Movement (CBM), Abia State Chapter, has inaugurated its Local Government Coordinators, assistants, and executives across the six Local Government Areas of Abia Central Senatorial Zone, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation and youth engagement.
The inauguration ceremony, led by the State Director, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe (Don Lulu), attracted key stakeholders, including APC chairmen from Umuahia North and Umuahia South LGAs, the CBM State Patron, State Coordinator, Zonal Coordinator for Abia Central, Chief Uzo, as well as a former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Sam Onuigbo, among other party and movement leaders.
In his welcome address, Chief Uzo described a “City Boy” as an individual who rises through hard work and determination, noting that the movement represents hope and opportunity for young Nigerians. He commended the leadership and participants for their commitment to the growth of the organisation.
Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated coordinators, the Umuahia South LGA Coordinator expressed appreciation to the state leadership for the trust placed in them, pledging dedication to effective grassroots mobilisation and unity within the movement.
The State Patron, in his remarks, emphasized the need for political alignment and inclusion, urging Ndị Igbo to support the government at the center to attract greater federal opportunities and representation.
Also speaking, Rt. Hon. Sam Onuigbo lauded the leadership of the City Boy Movement for building a structured platform capable of empowering young people and driving meaningful engagement across the state.
Delivering the keynote address, Mayor Igbokwe described the inauguration as a significant step beyond ceremony, noting that it reflects a renewed commitment to patriotism, unity, and a shared vision for national development under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He stressed that the movement is a grassroots-driven initiative focused on mobilising and empowering youths while strengthening participation in governance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Director charged the newly inaugurated executives to view their roles as a call to service, urging them to build inclusive structures at ward and LGA levels, actively engage communities, and ensure broad-based representation.
He further called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and stakeholders across Abia State to support the movement, emphasizing that collective effort is key to achieving sustainable development.
The event concluded with renewed commitment among members as the City Boy Movement continues to expand its structure and influence across Abia State.
