Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, visited President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He thanked the President for maintaining his impartiality during the election for governor of his state.
This is his first trip to the executive branch since taking office as the state governor in the South West.
Commenting on the purpose of his visit, the governor of Osun claimed that the electoral act of 2022, which the president signed into law in 2022, will significantly benefit him in the future.
He claimed that President Buhari’s election-related neutrality had a significant impact on the polls that gave him the victory.
“I just saw our President, looking so well, looking so nice, and I am thrilled about that,” Adeleke told state house reporters. I feel compelled to see the President say hello and thank him for signing the Electoral Act because it helped me win the election. The international community is praising Nigeria for having free and fair elections as a result, and Nigeria is now ready for democracy.
“So that’s the reason I’m here today—to say hello to him, thank you, and wish him luck in his remaining official capacity.
As you may recall, Adeleke ran for governor on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket, defeating Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oyetola received 375,027 votes, losing to Adeleke’s 403,371 votes.
Since taking office, Adeleke and Oyetola, his predecessor, have clashed over the management of the state’s resources.
