Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has called for the immediate and unconditional release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.

If the federal government finds it difficult to release the secessionist leader unconditionally, Soludo stated that he would be willing to act as a guarantor for the man.

Prof. Peter Umeadi, the party’s presidential candidate, and other candidates from the state and the southeast were present at the flag-off of the party’s campaigns when Soludo spoke.

“I am fervently pleading with the Federal Government to unconditionally release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” he stated. I want him freed, I will stand surety.

“To discuss the unrest in the South East, Nnamdi Kanu must take part in the roundtable discussion. We need Nnamdi Kanu to be present if we’re going to end the South East’s sense of insecurity.

“We established the Truth and Reconciliation Committee a while back to identify the underlying causes of instability in the South East, and they are nearly finished with their work.

However, addressing the problem of insecurity effectively requires bringing the relevant parties to the table.

“We have used both kinetic and non-kinetic methods to combat instability in the South East, but the Federal Government’s release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is necessary for the non-kinetic method to be successful.

We need him to participate in this process, so we must bring him to the table. I am pleading with the federal government to free Nnamdi Kanu so that we can have a thorough discussion about the future of the South East.

“I thus offer myself as the surety for his release and will hand him over to you anytime you want him.
