Real Madrid has announced that French striker Karim Benzema has brought his time at the club to an end after 14 years.

The Spanish giants announced Benzema’s departure in a statement on their website.

Benzema joined Madrid from Lyon in 2009 and has gone on to win major laurels for the club.

He is one of few players like Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio whose time at the club has come to an end.

He scored in his final game for Los Merengues in their 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao in the final game of the season.

“Real Madrid Football Club and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to bring his brilliant and unforgettable time as a player at our club to a close,” Madrid wrote.
