The member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ibe Okwara Osonwa, has been screened and cleared by the national leadership of the Labour Party to contest the 2027 general elections.
The screening exercise took place at the National Headquarters of the Labour Party in Abuja, officially paving the way for the lawmaker’s re-election bid under the platform of the party.
Hon. Osonwa arrived at the screening venue alongside supporters, party stakeholders, and loyalists from Abia State, where he presented his credentials and performance records before the screening committee.
Speaking shortly after receiving his clearance certificate, the federal lawmaker expressed gratitude to God, the leadership of the Labour Party, and the people of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency for what he described as their continued support and confidence in his leadership.
Party officials at the national headquarters reportedly commended Osonwa’s legislative performance, noting that his successful clearance was largely anticipated considering his activities and constituency interventions since assuming office.
The first-term lawmaker has attracted attention in recent years for several constituency projects and empowerment programmes, including poverty alleviation initiatives, agricultural equipment support schemes, road grading interventions, and educational scholarship programmes for students within the constituency.
Political observers believe the clearance further strengthens the Labour Party’s preparations ahead of the 2027 elections in Abia State, especially in Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency where the party continues to maintain strong grassroots support.
The clearance also signals the commencement of intensified political activities and consultations ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
