The Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has sacked Transition Committee Chairmen of six local government areas in the state along with their deputies, ABN TV reports.

This comes hours after he was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to have lost his Abia South senatorial bid to the sitting Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.

The 17 Transition Committee Chairmen were appointed early February.

Barr. Chris Ezem, Secretary to Abia State Government in a statement on Thursday gave the names of the affected local governments as, lsialangwa South LGA, Ohafia, Umuahia South, Ikwuano, Osisioma and Ugwunagbo.

No reason was given for their sack along with their deputies but the governor also announced their replacements.

* Obrien Iroh replaces James O. Ndukwe as Chairman, Ohafia LGA

* Kelechi Aguiyi replaces Nnachebe Uhiara as Chairman, Umuahia South LGA.

* Dani Orjinta replaces Williams Ukatu Chimechefulam as Chairman, Ikwuano LGA

*Chigaemezu Ejiekpe replaces Uchenna Jumbo as Deputy Chairman, Osisioma LGA.

* Chukwudi Ahuama, replaces Nwandu Chiemela Godwin as Deputy Chairman Ugwunagbo LGA.

The replacements are with immediate effect.
