After a motion of urgent public importance raised by the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah in which he sought workable means to curb the activities of bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements operating in communities around his constituency and beyond, House of Representatives has set up an ad-hoc committee to interface with relevant security agencies to tackle further security concerns.

Members of the committee are, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, Hon. Boma Goodhead, Hon. Kayode Akiolu, Hon. Thomas Egbede, Hon. Bitrus K. Laori, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo, Hon. Mahmud Abdullahi, Hon. Abdullahi Sani Rogo, Hon. Patrick Umoh and Hon. Obi Aguocha who will be the chairman.

There has been renewed attacks, killing and kidnapping of villagers and travellers by criminals who are alleged to be herders.

They have operated along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway through Lokpanta, Ihube-Isuochi road, Uturu-Okigwe Road, ABSU junction- Akara Road, Uturu-Afikpo Road, Umuaku-Umunze Road, Awgu Ishiagu Road and other roads within Isuikwuato and Umunneochi Local Government Areas.

The member representing Isuikwuato and Umunneochi Federal constituency of Abia State, Hon. Amobi Ogah, had earlier in the month condemned the incessant attacks while calling for urgent actions to be taken to secure his constituents and the affected communities at large.
