A heartbroken widow, Mrs Charity Ezeaso, is battling against time to save the life of her daughter, as she desperately seeks N1.8 million needed for a critical surgery to remove a life-threatening tumour.
For 16 years, Mrs Ezeaso has borne the weight of single parenthood alone, following the death of her husband. Despite the crushing burden, she remained resolute – sacrificing comfort and enduring hardship to give her three children a solid educational foundation and a chance at a brighter future.
But just as hope seemed within reach, tragedy struck. Her youngest child, Precious Emeaso, a 200-level Nursing student at Unique College, Ogun State, has been forced to suspend her studies due to a painful and worsening medical condition – a tumour in her mouth.
The ordeal began in 2023 when Precious was first diagnosed and treated at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia. The family had hoped the worst was over. However, in what has become a nightmare, the ailment resurfaced in December 2025 with greater severity, shortly after she returned home for the Christmas holidays.
Subsequent medical examinations confirmed her condition as a sublingual infected cyst – commonly referred to as a tumour of the tongue.
Today, Precious lives in agony.
With a visibly swollen jaw, she struggles to speak, chew, and swallow. Her condition has deteriorated to the point where even breathing has become a challenge. Once vibrant and full of dreams, the young student is now confined to a painful existence, uncertain of what tomorrow holds.
Doctors have recommended an urgent surgical intervention as her only hope of recovery. But the cost – N1.8 million – remains far beyond the reach of her struggling mother, whose modest income as a staff of Ikwuano Local Government Council can barely sustain the family’s daily needs.
Speaking in tears, Mrs Ezeaso made a passionate appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians to come to her aid and save her daughter from untimely death.
“I have done all I can as a mother,” she lamented. “But this is bigger than I . I am begging the public, please help me save my daughter. Her pains have forced sleep out of my eyes “.
Precious, fighting back tears, also shared her pain and fears: “My name is Precious Emeaso. I’m a student nurse. I have a tumour in my mouth and I now find it difficult to breathe. After several tests, the doctors said I need surgery, but we don’t have the money. I don’t want to die. I just want to get well and go back to school to complete my studies”, she sobbed.
Her dream of becoming a nurse – of saving lives- is now hanging in the balance. As the clock ticks, the family is appealing to compassionate individuals, organisations, and philanthropists to urgently intervene and give Precious a fighting chance at life.
