The newly posted Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala on Friday officially assumed duty at the command headquarters Umuahia where he advocated a proactive security support from state and non-state actors to ensure the command under him delivers in its mandate.

Addressing newsmen shortly after a brief handover ceremony by his predecessor, now AIG Janet Agbede, the Commissioner said there is need to secure the partnership of communities in the state, calling for community safety partnership to ensure all citizens and residents of the state are protected.

We need the cooperation of all stakeholders, both state and non-state actors, we need their cooperation, we need their engagement, we need their collaboration, we need synergy of sister security agencies for effective service delivery.

“As I come to Abia, that is my mission and vision, I seek for proactive security synergy and cooperation from all critical stakeholders to ensure safety and security in Abia. We can only achieve this through the goodwill and support of critical stakeholders in Abia State,” the police boss said.

The CP whose specialty is community policing said he has hit the ground running and will soon embark on confidence building to assure the people of the state of their safety.

He also appealed for the support and cooperation of the press, promising a cordial working relationship with members of the media in Abia State.

He seeks proactive security support from both State and non-State actors as well as relevant critical stake-holders in Abia State.
