As the December 18 local government election in Abia draws nearer, the member representing Bende North constituency, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu has cautioned the chairman Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa against compromising the process.

Speaking at the inauguration of the APC candidate for Bende local government, Ikenna Ariwodo, the lawmaker warned Prof. Mkpa, former ABSU VC not to allow his integrity to be soiled by the electoral contest.

Hon. Chukwu said “From next week you know I don’t keep quiet we will start telling them to give us the electoral guideline. Don’t be afraid because the state is conducting the election.

“The only person I am afraid of is Professor Agu Mkpa the ABSEIC Chairman because he is a man of integrity and if he does not take time, I will say it, again and again, all the years’ Professor has spent building his integrity he will lose it in 24 hours”.

Hon. Chukwu called on the electoral umpire under the leadership of Prof. Mkpa to make available the guidelines for the election and define the role of the presiding officers.

He also demanded that the result be declared at the polling units and the collection officer at the ward level declare the results at that level.

He said anything short of this will amount to a disgrace on the personality of Prof. Mkpa.
