Abia First Network has announced a partnership with CultureTV Productions and Partners to host the World Tourism Day 2026 Family Picnic, tagged “The Abia Experience,” in Umuahia, Abia State.
The event, scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Ezumezu Resort, Umuahia, is expected to bring together families, tourism stakeholders, creatives, entrepreneurs, government officials, political leaders, corporate organisations and members of the public to celebrate World Tourism Day.
According to the organisers, the one-day event is designed to showcase Abia State’s cultural, tourism, creative and entertainment potential while creating an atmosphere for families and other participants to relax, interact and enjoy a variety of activities.
The picnic will feature football, live music, comedy, family games, children’s creative competitions, food, cultural entertainment and other recreational activities for participants of different age groups.
A major highlight of the programme will be the Children Creative Competition, through which Abia First Network says it plans to identify, encourage and reward talented children across the state.
The Network said prizes would be presented to outstanding participants and winners, adding that the initiative is part of its commitment to discovering and promoting young talents across the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State.
Organisers said the competition would give young Abians an opportunity to express their creativity, build confidence, showcase their talents and gain recognition for their abilities.
Beyond entertainment, the partnership between Abia First Network and CultureTV Productions is also expected to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in the tourism, culture, entertainment, hospitality, family development and creative economy sectors.
The organisers said the initiative seeks to further position Abia as a destination for memorable tourism and family experiences.
Families, brands, organisations, government agencies, community leaders, tourism stakeholders and members of the public have been invited to participate in the celebration and experience Abia’s culture, creativity and hospitality.
