Former member of the House of Representatives, Rep. Sam Ifeanyichukwu Onuigbo, has formally entered the race for the Abia Central Senatorial seat after submitting his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.

The submission marks a major step in Onuigbo’s bid to represent Abia Central in the Senate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking shortly after submitting the forms, the former federal lawmaker expressed confidence in the support of the people of Abia Central, maintaining that his record in public service, governance, and legislative representation would stand him out in the contest.

Onuigbo stated that his years in public office were marked by impactful representation, infrastructural interventions, and people-oriented leadership, adding that he remains committed to serving the interests of the people.

He reiterated his leadership philosophy anchored on effectiveness, accessibility, and responsiveness, assuring constituents that he would continue to provide quality representation if elected into the Red Chamber.

The APC chieftain also stressed the need for experienced and tested leaders in the National Assembly, noting that Abia Central deserves strong representation capable of attracting development and giving the district a stronger voice at the national level.

Political observers say Onuigbo’s formal entry into the race is expected to further intensify political activities within the Abia Central Senatorial District as parties begin early preparations ahead of the 2027 elections.
