A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Paul Ikonne, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure significant votes from Abia South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
Ikonne made this assertion while speaking with ABN TV shortly after his official declaration to contest the Abia South Senate seat at the Enyimba Town Hall in Aba.
According to him, the growing support base of the APC in Abia South, coupled with the enthusiasm displayed by party faithful during the event, indicates that the district is ready to align more strongly with the ruling party at the federal level.
He noted that President Tinubu performed creditably in the last election despite the political landscape of the state, adding that the momentum is expected to increase ahead of 2027.
“Nobody can say Abia South did not give the President votes in the last election. What we are seeing now is a stronger desire for change, and those votes will increase,” Ikonne stated.
The APC stalwart emphasized that the people of Abia South are becoming more receptive to the party’s vision, stressing that this shift will translate into greater electoral support for the President and other APC candidates.
Ikonne further linked his senatorial ambition to the broader goal of strengthening the party’s presence in the region, noting that effective grassroots mobilization would play a key role in delivering victory.
He expressed optimism that with sustained engagement and unity within the party, the APC would make significant electoral gains in Abia State.
“The people are yearning for change, and by God’s grace, Abia South will contribute massively to the President’s victory in 2027,” he added.
The APC chieftain concluded by reaffirming his commitment to mobilizing support for the party, maintaining that the political tide in Abia South is gradually shifting in favour of the APC ahead of the next general elections.
