Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Dosu Joseph has called on the Flying Eagles players to ensure they unsettled Gambia with an early goal in today’s semi-finals clash of 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Recall that Nigeria managed a 1-0 defeat of Uganda in the quarterfinals after Group A victories over Mozambique (2-0) and Egypt (1-0) plus a 0-1 defeat by Senegal in their first game of the competition held in Egypt.

Their opponents, The Gambia, on the other hand, defeated Tunisia I-0, Zambia (2-0), and the Benin Republic 1-0 in Group C before demolishing South Sudan 5-0 in the quarterfinal. They and Senegal are the only teams without defeat so far in the competition.

However, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist, in a chat with Completesports.com, expects the players to go all out and knock out Gambia from the competition.

“This is definitely an encounter that I expect the Flying Eagles to stamp their authority on the game from the blast of the whistles to the end.

“No doubt, an early goal will give the boys so much confidence, which will also help them to aim for more goals. Though I am not expecting an easy game the team has everything going well for them.”
