Gov. Wike In Closed Door Meeting With Peter Obi As Defection Rumours Swirl [PHOTOS]

As the 2023 general election approaches, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has said he visited Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State ‘to discuss crucial national issues’.

ABN TV reports that both men met behind closed-doors in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Wednesday.

Wike had run for the People Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket but lost to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Then, he was considered as a viable running mate to Atiku alongside two others.

2023 Presidency: Peter Obi reveals real reason for visiting Wike

“Earlier today, I visited Port-Harcourt, to confer with H.E. @GovWike on vital issues of national interest,” Obi wrote tersely on his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday night.

The emergence of Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, is creating waves among youth across the country. The 60-year-old has been a sensation on social media. But political analysts say time will tell if his supportership on social media will translate to victory at next year’s poll.
