The mourners and security agents conducted themselves very well and our beloved Eze and his wife were given first class honors as expected. The synergy and cooperation witnessed is to the credit of all parties involved including the family of Eze Kanu represented by my brother Emma Kanu and their friends as well as the security agents led by CP Ene Okon.

The Management of The Sun Publishing Limited, owners and Publishers of the Sun Newspapers has Officially apologized to the Speaker of the Abia state House of Assembly Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji over alleged libel in 2014.
The Sun Newspaper’s apology to the Speaker is contained in the front page of its Friday 14th February 2020 edition with the bold caption ‘our error’.
The Sun Newspaper in its page 21 of the March 10, 2014 edition had said ‘it is not a secret affair as his terrorist activities in the state are fully documented’.

The Police in Bayelsa state have imposed three-day dusk to dawn curfew after angry All Progressive Congress (APC) protesters destroyed properties following the Supreme Court ruling which sacked the party’s elected candidate, David Lyon, and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo.
According to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Uche Anozia, who made the announcement on Friday, the curfew will last between 8pm – 6am.
Some Angry group occupied major streets and the Government House on Friday morning, armed with APC flags and bearing placards, protesting the ruling of the apex court.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Yenagoa was also not spared as the angry protesters attacked the building destroying properties.
They also stormed the private residence of the former governor of the state, Seriake Dickson, destroying properties belonging to the family of Mr Dickson.
The protesting members also called for a review of the Supreme court judgement which sacked David Lyon as Bayelsa State governor-elect.
The attacks follow the issuance of Certificate of Return to Senator Douye Diri of the PDP by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja, on Friday.

Abia State capital, Umuahia, came to a standstill as thousands of mourners flooded the city for the burial of His Royal Majesty, Eze Israel Kanu and his wife, Ugoeze Sally, parents of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The Afaraukwu monarch died early December 2019 barely three months after his wife passed on in circumstances their children linked to the destruction of their palace during the military operation of September 14, 2017, which had forced them into exile.
Biafra freedom songs rent the air as the bodies of the royal couple, who strongly believed in the self-determination struggle being championed by their son Nnamdi Kanu, were conveyed in a long procession through the major artery of the capital city.
The ceremony passed off without any ugly incident despite the huge crowd that took part in the traditional procession. The bodies were conveyed in separate hearses with two horse riders leading the procession which commenced from Madonna Hospital mortuary along Aba Road. From there the procession headed to the headquarters of Umuahia North local government, then to Orie Ogwu Afaraukwu market before they were taken their home and finally to the church.
Before the burial, there was an altercation between the Abia State Police Command and IPOB, whose members the police had threatened to arrest should they attend the burial.
There was no government presence from the South-east governors. However many dignitaries graced the occasion, including Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, presidential candidate of PDP and former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, and Senator Victor Umeh, among a host of prominent traditional rulers.
But there was no denying the fact that the various pro-Biafra groups thronged Umuahia in their thousands, though without displaying their insignias, to pay their last respect to the royal couple they regard as “father and mother of Biafran struggle.”
They crowned the parents of the IPOB leader “saints” of the Biafra struggle” in their various tributes, adding that the royal couple had paid “the ultimate price in the Biafra restoration project.” Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Umuahia, Most Rev. Geoffrey Ibeabuchi in his homily, said that the royal couple had lived lives worthy of emulation.
He called on Nigerians to mend their ways as everyone would give account before God of the kind of life they lived while on earth.
In their tribute read by the second son, Kingsley, the family of Eze Kanu praised their parents for giving them proper upbringing and bequeathed to them “opulence of health, education and a close knit family built on a foundation of love for one another and knowledge of God.”
Recalling the role the couple played in supporting the Biafra cause, the family stated that the lives and death of their parents “was ordained by heaven to usher in an era of freedom not limited to Biafra alone but will extend to the whole of black Africa and even beyond.”
“In that respect they remain immortals to every generation that will ever walk this sacred land of Biafra. That is the greatest legacy, that is their gift to our nation and one which God purposes for them,”the family said.
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, in his remarks lauded the Biafra activists for their peaceful conduct, saying that it was a mark of respect to their elders who had come to honour the royal couple.
He said that even in death the names of Eze Kanu and his wife, Sally would never be wiped out in generations to come.
Senator Victor Umeh described Eze Kanu as “a great king” and lauded the federal government for respecting the solemnity of the burial ceremony with the peaceful conduct of the security agents.
“They have done well by allowing us to bury the monarch,” he said, adding that the tension generated in the run up to the burial ceremony did not deter him as he had in fact, “prepared for the worst.”
Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of five out of six people trapped under a heap of sand at Ramin Farar Kasa in Dauni village in Minjibir Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Alhaji Saidu Muhammad, Public Relations Officer of the service said this in a statement on Friday in Kano.
“We received a distress call on Thursday afternoon from Dauni village through one Malam Danlami Murtala at about 02:45 p.m. that a heap of sand has covered six people who were digging for sand used for makeup powder.
“Upon receiving the information, we quickly dispatched firemen and fire engine to the scene, tried to rescue the victim where only a little boy of about four years was found alive,” he said.
He gave the names of the victims as Ibrahim Shu’aibu, four, Dije Shu’aibu, eight, Hadiza Shu’aibu, 12, Nana Idris, 12, Wasila Nuhu, 13, Sa’ida Lawwali, 32.
Muhammad said that the bodies of the victims were handed over to the village head of Dauni, Alhaji Bello Rabi’u adding the only survivor had a minor fracture.
He advised the general public who are into such business to be careful when digging or mining because of the safety of their safety.
A midnight fire, on Friday, gutted a two-storey Post-Graduate Hostel in Campus Three of the Delta State University, Abraka in Ethiope East Council Area of the state.
It was learnt that the fire started about 1:04 am, destroying about 10 rooms before help arrived.
But there was no casualty recorded in the inferno.
It was gathered that the parts of the hostel destroyed were on the first and second floors.
Details of the cause of the fire incident were sketchy as of the time of filing this report.
When contacted, the DELSU Public Relations Officer, Mr Eddy Agbure, confirmed the incident.
