“I Apologise For Failure To Protect You Fully”, Gov. El-Rufai Begs Victims Of Fresh Attacks

0

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, has apologised to residents of the villages attacked in Igabi and Giwa local government areas of the state over the attacks that reportedly led to the deaths of more than 50 persons.

TheCable had earlier reported that El-Rufai was on his way to the villages over the latest attacks.

A local guard had told VOA Hausa that suspected bandits raided different villages on Sunday, killing the residents and setting their corpses on fire.

Accompanied by Ali Janga, the state commissioner of police, El-Rufai said his administration would never negotiate with bandits.

“If not for the security agencies prompt intervention they would have wiped out the entire villages,” NAN quoted el-Rufai as saying.

“I also came to apologise for failure to protect you fully, we are doing our best to minimise such incidents, you should continue to forgive us.

“But we are doing the best we can and we are hoping that this banditry issue will be addressed because security personnel are on ground to manage the situation.

“In Kaduna, we have vast land, if the security close one area they attack another area.”

The governor said it is the duty of his administration to “wipe out” the attackers.

“It is our duty to wipe them out, and until we send them to their maker, the security agencies are taking the war to the forest and we are eliminating them, ” he said.

“The security agencies are doing the best they can, but they find it difficult to get to remote areas in good time due to poor access roads while the natives also find it difficult to get to security personnel due to poor GSM network.

“But I am grateful to the air force, army, police and the DSS for being always prompt otherwise it would have been worse.”

El-Rufai urged the people to continue to be patient and vigilant and support the government and security agencies to win the war against the bandits.

On his part, Ibrahim Damu, district head of Karewa, appealed to the state government to intensify efforts in tackling security challenges in the area.

Abia APC Crisis Deepens As another Of Ogah’s Aide Accuses Chief Apugo Of Dinning With Opposition

0

The crisis rocking Abia APC is getting messier by the day following accusations and counter-accusations of betrayal between the camps of two chieftains of the party in Abia, Dr Uche Ogah, a governorship candidate of APC in the state at the 2019 general elections and current Minister of State for Steel and Mines Development, and Prince Benjamin Benedict Apugo, a BOT member and chieftain of the party in Abia State.

Following an interview granted to a national newspaper (not ABN TV) on Friday wherein Prince BB Apugo accused Dr Uche Ogah of betrayal and selling out the party to the PDP during the last general election, an aide of Ogah, Great Imo Jonathan, has fired back at Apugo describing him as a spent force “who could not win even his constituency” at the said elections.

You can imagine the kind of BOT member he (Apugo) is. He does not attend party meetings, he does not call for meetings of his party in Abia but he is always seen playing host to gubernatorial candidates of other parties”, Jonathan fired.

Continuing, Jonathan claimed that “Chief BB Apugo did not campaign for President Muhammadu Buhari or any APC candidate in the last election. I challenge him to prove otherwise.

“Enough of all the grandstanding. Abians know Chief B. B. Apugo lied against Dr Uche Ogah. People should expect more of his shenanigans in the days ahead. But they will all fail”, he enthused.

He, however, described Ogah as “about the only person in Abia APC that won elections 5 over 5 in his local government area. Meaning that he won for his party all the elections conducted in his local government area, he concluded.

Tragedy as female corper, Amaka Asikaogu found dead in Abuja hotel

1

A corps member identified as Amaka Asikaogu has reportedly been found dead in an Abuja hotel, few days to the end of her service year.

The deceased checked into New England Hotel in Abuja on Saturday evening with a male friend who left shortly after they were served food and drinks they ordered.
.
According to reports, when asked about the lady he checked in with, Amaka’s male friend insisted that she is fine and alone in the room. Amaka also affirmed that she was fine when called by the hotel workers.

Amaka’s corpse was however found in the room when the hotel staff who were worried that she is yet to check out the following day, forced their way in.

A family friend who confirmed the incident told that the parents of the deceased sent her money after she complained that the person she was staying with asked her to leave the house.

The family friend said; “It was like she was waiting for the end of the weekend before she gets the accommodation before the unfortunate incident happened.”

26yrs Old lady killed by her prison warden she met on Facebook

Police in Kiambu County, Kenya has arrested a 26-year-old man, who allegedly killed his girlfriend on Wednesday, February 26, in Ruaka.

Tairus Mwangi, who is a prison warder at Malindi GK Prison in Kilifi County, is alleged to have bludgeoned Purity Karwirwa multiple times in the head, nose and back using a hammer.

Mwangi and 26-year-old Karwirwa dated for one-and-a-half years, and their relationship which began on Facebook, was riddled with an unending dispute, the deceased’s brother, Erick Kimathi, told K24 Digital on Saturday, February 29.

Kimathi revealed that his sister, who earned a living from online writing, would often visit her lover at his Malindi workstation.

“Their relationship was full of physical abuse, with the suspect often being the aggressor,” said Kimathi.

Karwirwa, according to the brother, — of late — stayed at her friend’s place in Donholm, Nairobi.

The friend, Skitter Ntinyari, told K24 Digital that every time Karwirwa was on phone with her lover, she would hear them quarrelling.

“Rarely would their conversations end without the two disagreeing over an issue,” said Ntinyari.

Mwangi is said to have arrived in Nairobi on Tuesday, February 25, and asked Karwirwa if he could meet her so that they could iron out their differences.

Karwirwa accepted the request, and Mwangi went and picked his girlfriend from the friend’s place in Donholm.

It is said Mwangi, thereafter, took Karwirwa to his sister’s place in Ruaka, where they quarrelled — again — on Wednesday, February 26.

It was then that Mwangi allegedly reached for a hammer and hit Karwirwa in the head, nose and back, killing her on the spot. The deceased’s brother says the fatal striking was done five times.

CCTV footage at the scene of the crime showed Mwangi leaving his sister’s house later Wednesday after having a change of clothes.
The suspect’s sister, who arrived at her house on Wednesday evening, was shocked to find Karwirwa’s body lying in a pool of blood on the floor.

She reported the incident at the Karuri Police Station, prompting a hunt for the suspect, who had escaped to an unknown destination.

DCI detectives, who tapped the suspect’s phone signal, tracked him down to a bar in Kahawa West on Thursday, February 27. Mwangi was arrested and taken to Karuri Police Station, where he is being held in custody.

A postmortem examination on Karwirwa’s body, which was conducted on Friday, February 28, at the Kihara Level 4 Hospital morgue, indicated that the 26-year-old died from inflicted head injuries.
