Davido’s Fiancee Chioma Tests Positive For Coronavirus

1

Singer Davido’s fiancee, Chioma Rowland, has tested positive for coronavirus, 13 days after arriving in Nigeria from London.

On Friday night, March 27, Davido announced to his fans and the general public that his fiancee of eight months has tested positive to COVID-19.

In a statement by the singer, Chioma tested positive after a test was conducted on himself, his baby, fiancee and 28 others, whom he has been exposed to.

Meanwhile, the singer announced that his four months old baby, Ifeanyi David Adeleke jr, tested positive for the virus.

“Hey everyone! I came back recently from America after canceling the tour. My fiancé Chioma also came back from London recently with our baby. We had no symptoms and still both feel perfectly fine but because of our recent travel history, we decided to take ourselves and our all close associates we’ve come in recent contact with for the COVID-19 test on the 25th of March,” Davido wrote.

Continuing, the award-winning singer said, “Unfortunately, my fiancé’s results came back positive while all 31 others tested have come back negative including our baby. We are however doing perfectly fine and she is even still yet to show any symptoms whatsoever. She is now being quarantined and I have also gone into full self-isolation for the minimum 14 days. I want to use this opportunity to thank you all for your endless love and prayers in advance and to urge everyone to please stay at home as we control the spread of this virus! Together we can beat this!”

Davido returned with his wife, son, father, sister, brothers, cousins, and management team from the United States of America on March 14.

The singer returned to Nigeria after his North American tour was cut short due to the continuous spread of coronavirus in Canada and the United States of America.

Chioma joins a long list of Nigerians that have tested positive to coronavirus after the first index case was identified on February 27

Report Of Car Delivery To House Of Reps Untrue, Unfortunate – Spokesperson

0

The House of Representatives has denied a report that it took delivery of official vehicles for 360 members of the Green Chamber, saying there is no truth in such a report.

The House in a release signed by the official spokesperson and the member representing Bende federal constituency of Abia state, Hon. Benjamin Kalu described the report as unfortunate, maintaining that the House will not choose this moment Nigeria is battling to contain the spread of COVID-19 that has forced the federal and some state governments to take drastic measures to engage in such business.

It has come to the attention of the House of Representatives that a newspaper report on Friday, March 27, 2020, had insinuated that the Green Chamber is distributing official vehicles for the 360 members of the House at this critical moment that the country is battling to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This story is rather unfortunate at this time that Nigeria and Nigerians are striving hard to address the pandemic that has forced the Federal Government, and even the various states’ governments, to take drastic measures.

“Not only has the National Assembly been closed since Tuesday the 24th of March in the wake of the pandemic, but most lawmakers are also in their constituencies,” he said.

He also stated that the lawmakers are aware of the situation the nation currently faces, insisting that the House is committed to ensuring the unity of the nation at this time.
As a House, we are not unmindful of the mood of the nation at this critical time and are committed to ensuring the country stands united in these trying times.

“It is out of that commitment that the House on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, introduced and passed the Emergency Economic Stimulus Bill, 2020. It is on record that the leadership of the National Assembly on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, about 24 hours after adjournment, engaged some top government officials in the Executive arm and approved the release of N6.5BN for the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), N10BN for Lagos state, as part of efforts to address the issue of Covid-19 pandemic” he added.

He also announced that despite adjourning for two weeks to curb the spread of the virus, the House is ready to reconvene at any time to consider measures aimed at addressing the situation, including a review of the 2020 Appropriation Act, if need be.

He said the House is committed, as lawmakers, to join hands with the Executive arm to take measures aimed at containing the pandemic and providing succor to Nigerians as a result of the economic shock necessitated by Covid-19 all over the world.

We, therefore, urge Nigerians to disregard the newspaper report on the vehicles’ distribution as it is mischief taken too far. Just yesterday, the same paper on its back page, claimed that the house “closed shop and went on holiday” three weeks ago, a clear falsehood that is common knowledge. The House only shut down 3 days ago and not three weeks ago as falsely and mischievously reported. The paper chose to ignore all the house did within this time, the special session on addressing the high number of out of school children, intervening in the strike action by FCT health workers, etc.

“We also call on Nigerians to join hands with governments at all levels in addressing the issue of the Covid-19 pandemic. Let’s all adhere strictly to the preventive measures taken by the government” the statement concluded.

COVID-19: Imam Of Peace Blasts Buhari (See Tweets)

0

Mohammad Tawhidi, a Muslim influencer, and reformist Imam have taken to his twitter page to drag Buhari.

Tawhidi also is known as Imam of Peace is calling out the President Of Nigeria, Buhari.

Also, in his tweet, he wrote that Buhari is the dumbest person in Nigeria.

Furthermore, he said Buhari is a dictator.

The President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari still doesn’t know the name of the virus killing 24,000+ at such a rapid rate. Addressing the nation about it for the first time, he pronounced the virus as ‘CIVIK 1-9′”.

His friend, Imran Khan, thinks Japan and Germany share a border.

Top 3 leaders:

“1- Imran Khan. Professional beggar, terror-sympathizer, think Japan and Germany are neighbours.

“2- Muhammadu Buhari, dumbest person in Nigeria. Scared of terrorists, promises to fight the COVIKK virus.

“3- Tamim of Qatar: Thinks he’s sexy. Answers only to mummy.

“I love Nigeria. I have one Nigerian friend and she’s amazing. One of the most successful and honest people I know. I also welcome my new Nigerian followers on Twitter.

You have a beautiful country but it would be more beautiful without the terrorism enabled by Dictator Buhari.

“More lies. I am not Nigerian nor am I a follower of Zakzaky and the terrorist regime in Iran. I despise Zakzaky. Criticizing Buhari doesn’t mean I support Zakzaky. I reject them both. I take orders from one person only and that person is my lady.

“President Buhari’s cult claims they have nothing to do with terrorists in Nigeria.

“Yet when I expose terrorists in Nigeria…

“President Buhari’s fans attack me online.

“A stupid President is always elected by stupid people.” Imam Of Peace said.

He continued;

Muhammadu Buhari is the Joe Biden of Nigeria:

1- People don’t know where he is.

2- He doesn’t know where he is.

3- He doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

4- His fingerprints are on dirty files with no one brave enough to investigate him.

5- A national embarrassment.

Nigerians should know that I’ve actually had contact with his office before, during civil conflicts (Shia-Sunni/army clashes). I was about to come to Nigeria for negotiations and help achieve peace between sects. But it looks like Buhari loves conflict so he can stay in power.

“Whoever supports Buhari is not only foolish but also responsible for his crimes regardless of their nationality. I’m not even Nigerian and I am standing up for Nigerians. Maybe you should do the same instead of defending the cult that put that Covikkk criminal in power.

“I’ll say it again: Whoever voted for Buhari, especially for the second time after seeing his failures to crack down on terrorists, is 100% stupid, foolish and irresponsible. Victims of terrorism due to Buhari’s incompetence don’t care about minority or majority votes. Wake up”.

Coronavirus: Germany Develops 3-Hour Test For COVID-19 With 95% Accuracy

0

The Coronavirus COVID-19 is posing major challenges for healthcare systems and medical institutions worldwide.

An ability to rapidly diagnose the virus is of invaluable help in curbing its exponential spread in many countries. Bosch’s new, fully automated rapid test for COVID-19 can help medical facilities such as doctors’ offices, hospitals, laboratories, and health centres make fast diagnoses.

The rapid molecular diagnostic test runs on the Vivalytic analysis device from Bosch Healthcare Solutions.

“We want the Bosch rapid COVID-19 test to play a part in containing the coronavirus pandemic as quickly as possible. It will speed up the identification and isolation of infected patients,” says Dr Volkmar Denner, chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH.

Developed in just six weeks, the rapid test can detect a COVID-19 coronavirus infection in patients in under two and a half hours — measured from the time the sample is taken to the time the result arrives.

Another advantage of the rapid test is that it can be performed directly at the point of care. This eliminates the need to transport samples, which takes up valuable time.

It also means patients quickly gain certainty about their state of health, while allowing infected individuals to be identified and isolated immediately. With the tests currently in use, patients must usually wait for one to two days for a result.

“Time is of the essence in the fight against coronavirus. Reliable, rapid diagnosis directly on-site with no back and forth — that is the great advantage of our solution, which we see as another example of technology that is ‘Invented for life,’” Denner says.

Woman Passes On Coronavirus To Her Pet CAT

A woman has infected her cat with coronavirus, health authorities in Belgium revealed today.

Steven van Gucht, head of viral diseases at the country’s Institute of Health, told a press conference that ‘a coronavirus infection has been determined in a cat’.

‘The cat lived with her owner, who started showing symptoms of the virus a week before the cat did,’ he said.

The Belgian case is the first report of a cat being infected with the new coronavirus, although officials in Hong Kong say two dogs have caught the virus there.

‘It is an isolated case,‘ van Gucht said at the press conference today, according to Belgian media. ‘There are no indications that this is common.’

Officials did not identify the woman but said that she came from the Belgian city of Liege in the French-speaking part of the country.

Van Gucht added: ‘The cat had diarrhoea, kept vomiting and had breathing difficulties. The researchers found the virus in the cat’s faeces.

‘We want to stress that this is an isolated case. Additionally, in this case, we are talking about a human-to-animal transmission, not the other way around.

‘There are no indications that this is common. The risk of animal-to-human transmission, is very small.’

Updated advice from Belgian health authorities said the infected cat had ‘transient respiratory and digestive disorders’.

Officials said it was the only known case of a pet being infected apart from the two in Hong Kong.

‘There is no evidence to date that the virus is being transmitted from pets to humans or other pets,‘ Belgian officials say.

Nonetheless, anyone who suspects that their pet might be infected the virus is being asked to call their vet in advance to make arrangements.

The guidelines also advise infected people to limit their contact with pets and when touching them to take care not to infect them.

British Company Invents 10-Minute Coronavirus Antibody Test Which Costs Less Than N500

0

A British company behind a 10-minute coronavirus antibody test, which will cost about a $1, has begun sending prototypes to laboratories for validation, which could be a game-changer in the fight against the pandemic.

Health technology firm Mologic, which created one of the first at-home pregnancy tests, is aiming for the test to be rolled out by as early as June if the trials are successful.

Antibody tests are designed to establish whether people have previously been infected, as opposed to antigen tests which show if someone actually has the COVID-19 disease caused by the virus.

Mologic said assessment and validation of its COVID-19 diagnostic test had begun this week at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and St Georges hospital, and that global partners would also examine the prototypes.

Joe Fitchett, Mologic medical director, said that while many companies were working on virus diagnostics, the aim was to create cheap, widely available tests.

They must be made available to the vulnerable and most precious in society, in the UK or elsewhere,” he told Reuters.

“I would be really disappointed to see a good test that is shown to work to be sold on Amazon only be used by a tiny proportion of the population.”

BREAKING: UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock Tests Positive For Coronavirus [VIDEO]

0

United Kingdom Health Secretary, Matt Hancock said he has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a video posted on his Twitter, he confirmed he has Covid-19.

It comes hours after Boris Johnson announced he too had tested positive for the virus.

In a video on Twitter, the Prime Minister said he has “mild symptoms” and is self-isolating but says he will “continue to lead the government’s response”.

Mr. Johnson sat near to Matt Hancock at Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister’s spokesman initially said he was “not aware of any further testing” when asked if the Health Secretary – and other Cabinet members – had been tested.

In a video posted on Twitter, Mr. Hancock said he was experiencing “mild symptoms” and said he would be self-isolating until next Thursday.

The Health Secretary said: “Fortunately for me the symptoms so far have been very mild so I’ve been able to carry on with the work driving forward the UK response.”

He also said a “massive thank you to everybody in the NHS, working in social care and right across the board on the response”.

Lagos Hospital Reject Man Who Tested Positive For COVID-19 Over Lack Of Bed Space

0

A man named Emmanuel Benson, who had close contact with two persons that recently arrived Lagos from the United Kingdom, has been told to go home by medical personnel at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, after testing positive for Coronavirus.

Benson, who had hoped to be quarantined and treated at LUTH after being tested at the government-owned hospital on March 21, was asked to go back home over lack of bed space to admit him at the facility.

Since the refusal of LUTH to admit Benson, he had returned home and continued his normal life.

“He moved to and from LUTH through public transportation.

“He has been mingling freely with people,” a friend to the young man told SaharaReporters on Thursday.

When contacted by SaharaReporters on Thursday night after his mobile number was supplied to one of our correspondents, Benson indeed confirmed that he tested positive for the virus and was not admitted to LUTH for treatment by medical personnel.

He disclosed that he went for the test after coming in contact with the two UK returnees at a dinner party in Lagos last week.

When asked if money was demanded from him before the test was conducted, Benson refused to open up, instead of saying that he does not want unnecessary attention.

While chatting with one of our correspondents on a social networking platform, Whatsapp, Benson, who expressed fear of being stigmatised should his story be published, quickly deleted his display photo on his profile.

He was standing with an unidentified person in the photo where both men were wearing tags over their necks.

He said, “I am at home on self-isolation now.

“I had the test at LUTH even though the queue was too long.

“Some of the medical staff I spoke with later advised me to go home and self-isolate.

“They said I should get back to them after 14 days or that in seven days they might call to check my progress.

“I was infected at a dinner party organised for the two men who returned to Nigeria from the UK.

“I went for the test on March 21.”

When asked if he had attempted to contact the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control to notify them of his situation and probably seek help, Benson said, “I have called the NCDC lines several times but they are not picking up the call.”

To further give credence to Benson’s situation, the NCDC on Thursday night announced 12 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Lagos out of the total 14 detected in the country.

Nigeria now has 65 confirmed cases of the virus and one recorded death.

Testing kits for the virus are being used for politicians and their families while ordinary Nigerians with symptoms of the pandemic are being left to their fates.

Till date, less than 200 persons have been tested for the virus in Nigeria despite Lagos alone having a population of over 20 million persons.

An official of the Nigerian Medical Association said that the number of confirmed cases declared by NCDC was far below the real figure, adding that there were already hundreds of citizens infected with Coronavirus walking and freely mixing up with others thus increasing the risk of a further spread.

COVID-19: China And US Must ‘Unite To Fight Virus’, President Xi Tells Trump

0

China and the United States should “unite to fight” the deadly coronavirus pandemic, President Xi Jinping said in a call with Donald Trump on Friday, as he called for the US to improve relations.

The two countries have clashed in recent weeks over the virus, and Chinese state media said Xi told Trump he hoped the “US will take substantive actions to improve Sino-US relations.”

He also called for the two countries to work together to tackle the virus and said Beijing “wishes to continue sharing all information and experience with the US”, according to state broadcaster CCTV.

Trump sounded a positive tone, tweeting that he had a “very good conversation” with Xi and that both leaders discussed the pandemic “in great detail”.

“China has been through much & has developed a strong understanding of the virus. We are working closely together. Much respect,” he wrote.

Trump and his Secretary of State Mike Pompeo angered Beijing this month by repeatedly referring to “the Chinese virus” when discussing the COVID-19 outbreak first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

Trump has since dropped the term amid accusations of racism, in another small sign of easing tensions between the two world powers.

Earlier this month a foreign ministry spokesman in Beijing also suggested in a tweet that the US military brought the virus to Wuhan.

This prompted Trump to accuse China of spreading misinformation, and the US president repeatedly attacked China’s lack of transparency and the slowness of its initial response to the outbreak.

Xi said Sino-US relations were at a “critical juncture”, CCTV reported, adding that cooperation was mutually beneficial and “the only right choice.”

Friday’s call also took place as the US overtook China as the country with the most confirmed coronavirus cases — the pathogen has now infected more than 82,400 people in the world’s largest economy.

During the call, Xi said China had shared information about the epidemic with the World Health Organization and other countries including the US in a “timely” manner throughout.

“Infectious diseases are the common enemy of mankind, and do not recognise borders or races,” said Xi.

Some provinces, cities and companies in China have provided medical supplies and support to the US as well, Xi added.

At an emergency videoconference chaired by Saudi Arabia Thursday — which both Xi and Trump joined — G20 nations pledged a “united front” in the fight against the coronavirus.

The group said they would inject $5 trillion into the global economy to counter the pandemic amid forecasts of a deep recession.
