Nollywood Actor Stabs Neighbour To Death Over Electricity Bill

2

A 30-year-old Nollywood actor, Temitayo Ogunbusola, has allegedly stabbed his neighbour, Oladotun Osho, to death following a disagreement over the payment of electricity bill.

The incident happened on Sunday at No. 4 Sebil Kazeem Street in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.

The Nollywood Actor, Temitayo was said to have been beaten to a pulp by a mob before the intervention of policemen from the Ikotun Police Station.

The remains of the victim were deposited in a morgue for autopsy.

PUNCH Metro gathered that trouble started when a resident of the house, one Banjo, demanded the payment of the electricity bill from the other occupants.

However, the Nollywood Actor, Temitayo was alleged to have refused to pay his share of the bill, which led to an argument between him and Banjo.

The suspect was said to have in a fit of anger taken a dagger with which he threatened to stab Banjo.

It was gathered that Oladotun, who was coming into the compound with his brother and friend, saw Temitayo, who was searching for Banjo to stab him.

When Temitayo could not find his target, he reportedly directed his aggression at Oladotun and stabbed him in the chest.

Oladotun’s sister, Ronke Akindipe, who spoke with PUNCH Metro, alleged that the Investigating Police Officer in charge of the case tried to cover it up by not informing the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ikotun Police Station because the suspect was a known face at the station.

She said, “The landlord does not stay in the house, so the person in charge of the electricity bill in the house went to the tenants on Sunday to tell them to settle the bill, but when he got to Temitayo’s apartment to ask for his share of the bill, an argument ensued between them and Temitayo threatened to break the man’s head.

“Banjo ran out of the compound and brought his brother, who is a soldier, and his colleagues and when they came, he was taken to the Ikotun Police Station to write an undertaken that he would not touch Banjo and others in the compound.

“When Temitayo got home, he started threatening to break Banjo’s head for daring to report him at the police station and when Banjo came back, other neighbours told him to run away and Temitayo started pursuing him in the compound.

“Oladotun and one of our brothers and his friend did not have a clue as to what was going on in the compound and they entered, because it did not cross my brother’s mind that he was going to stab him, because the disagreement was between Banjo and Temitayo.

“When Temitayo could not find Banjo, he stabbed my brother in the chest and my brother started shouting for help. When my other brother bent down to carry Oladotun, Temitayo attempted to stab him in the back, but for the intervention of their friend, who used his hand to block the assailant. My brother was rushed to hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“After the incident, people went after Temitayo and almost beat him to a pulp, but the police came to rescue him and took him away to the station. The IPO in charge of the case tried to change the narrative at the station by asking my dad if my brother had an underlying disease for him to have died from stabbing.

“We later learnt that the IPO did not inform the DPO about the matter until we saw the DPO and explained everything to him, and when he called the IPO, he started giving excuses on why he did not report the matter.

“The suspect was not feeling remorseful for what he did when the case was still with the IPO, but when the DPO intervened, he started feeling remorseful.

“We want justice; we don’t want them to release a criminal to start walking freely on the street, because if not for the DPO, the IPO would have released him as he was bringing up excuses for the suspect.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect to our correspondent, stated that the Nollywood Actor, Temitayo was beaten by a mob and he needed to be fit for trial before he could be charged.

He said, “The report we got was that there was a misunderstanding between two neighbours and one stabbed the other and the suspect narrowly escaped mob action because of the timely intervention of the police.

“He is in our custody. The DPO reported the matter to the command headquarters, but the suspect was battered by the mob and we cannot detain him like that; so, he has to be treated under guard. He cannot stand trial the way he is. As soon as he is fit to stand trial, he will be in court.”

Prophet Joshua Iginla Remarries After Divorcing Yemisi Iginla

2

A Nigerian billionaire clergyman, Prophet Joshua Iginla, has finally remarried after divorcing his former wife, Mrs Yemisi Iginla.

Prophet Joshua Iginla, who is the General Overseer of Champions Royal Assembly, Abuja, had in March 2019 personally announced the end of his marriage to Yemisi, who has been alleged to have remarried in the United States of America afterwards.

According to a statement made available to ABN TV by one of the cleric’s media handlers on Wednesday night, Prophet Joshua Iginla has finally divorced his wife over infidelity and has moved on permanently with his new wife, a prophetess whom we learnt has been a source of peace and happiness to him.

Meanwhile, the man of God, one of the humblest clergies who has chosen his resources to impact the less privileged and the needy, is adding another year today, Thursday, May 21, 2020.

The Abuja-based seer, Prophet Joshua Iginla who is arguably one of the richest prophets globally with the acquisition of private jets, mega parishes across the world and ultra-modern buildings home and abroad, didn’t just emerge as an influential and successful man, there are several mind-blowing stories behind his success.

How would one describe a man who rose from nothing to something, a man who was an object of mockery in town, a man who couldn’t afford to eat a two—square meal a day, becoming a man whom every influential person in the world wants to reckon with?

Mr Iginla can be likened to one who was never expected to be successful, but against all odds, woke up to success and started living it.

Little wonder one of the favourite topics to preach for him is God’s grace. Of a truth, grace has visited the man of God and decided to live with him for the rest of his life, judging by the success he has attained.

Prophet Iginla, when he started the ministry, used to hold service in a room where 20 people can’t stay comfortably, meaning he had a very small congregation too, but today, his ministry can boast of an 80,000-seater auditorium built in Abuja and South Africa without the support of anyone.

The same cleric that had a small congregation can now boast of hundreds of thousand members who throng his church at every service, including weekdays.

On every May 21, which happens to be his birthday, Brother Joshua Iginla, as he loves to be called, celebrates the grace and extends it to his members, widows, fewer privileges, well-wishers, to mention a few.

During a birthday celebration, he once gave out 32 cars and another 22 vehicles. If one is to count the number of cars the man of God has given out, it would be over 200 by now, for someone who had nothing.

Surprisingly, Joshua Iginla has given outhouses, landed properties, cash gifts, to the desolates, the needy, widows and placed over 200 people on lifetime salary.

The Nollywood movie industry will never forget him for his magnanimity towards actors and actresses. He has given them cars, paid hospital bills of a lot of them, given some of the houses and placed many of them of life-time salary.

As a prophet, he has foretold several prophecies that have come to pass. Some of them include the coming of Coronavirus, President Buhari’s deteriorating health condition, the outcome of elections, to mention a few.

No doubt, Brother Iginla has enjoyed God’s grace, he is a true recipient of God’s grace because it keeps increasing, day by day.

As another May 21 hits the corner, one would remember his popular saying that, it’s not a show-off but an opportunity to showcase the mercy and Grace of God upon his life and through him to this generation.

Gaspard went missing on Sunday after he went swimming with Aryeh, his 10-year-old son.

After the strong current had crashed over him, Aryeh was rescued without requiring hospitalization as other swimmers made it out of the water safely.

“When last seen by the lifeguard, a wave had crashed over Mr Shad Gaspard and he was swept out to sea,” the police statement added.

Gaspard had gained prominence in the WWE as one half of the tag-team group Cryme Time, along with JTG, his partner.

He would later retire from the WWE in 2010 while still taking TV and movie roles, including ‘Get Hard’, the 2015 Kevin Hart comedy.

Almajirai Should Go Back To Their States – Umahi

2

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State yesterday insisted that Almajirai should go back to their states as the government will not give them access to the state.

ABN TV reports that Umahi, who stated this immediately after the State Security Council meeting at the new Government House, Abakaliki, explained that

“We will not be afraid to say there were no almajirai in Ebonyi State before now. I commend the northern governors for saying go to your state of origin.

“So, why will the youths that want us to fight to take to the social media to start saying almajirai is coming to the southeast and they should be allowed. Is it part of the social distancing?

“We will not allow that in Ebonyi State. “Ebonyi will not allow almajirai to come. They should go to their states. This is very important.

We have to as people begin to tell ourselves the truth. I have directed the Chief Security Officer to meet with security people.

Please, I don’t want to see any cow within the premises of the centenary city. It is an insult. “How can we be struggling with cows to come into Government House?

“Please, I don’t want to see any cow even in the international market and the mall. I don’t want to retake it.

“So, the security people should meet with the people rearing cows, whether Igbo or Hausa cows, because I also see some Igbo cows, but I don’t want to see them again.

Any that we see, the Commissioner for Justice should move to court and get an order to auction it.

“Those preaching poverty about Ebonyi does not love you. We are doing everything possible to secure the state against poverty and we will never be distracted.

“This is very important. We have generally pardoned COVID-19 law offenders but anyone caught since that day must be prosecuted.”

Catholic Archbishop Ask FG To Consider Herbal Remedies For COVID-19

1

Alfred Martins, Catholic archbishop of Lagos Diocese, has called on the federal government to consider herbal remedies in the quest of a cure for COVID-19.

The Catholic Archbishop made the appeal during a press conference held at the Holy Cross Cathedral hall in Lagos, on Wednesday.

He said Herbal Remedies are known for its potency against several diseases.

Martins said Madagascar’s herbal solution is an indication that Nigeria can develop its own remedy through traditional means.

“Herbal medicine has its healing effect and I think it is important that the government gives local practitioners and researchers opportunities to research into the use of our local herbal roots and come up with remedies from them for this Coronavirus pandemic,” he said.

“We have heard these local remedies curing different types of diseases before, and it is only appropriate that they are given a chance to prove their efficacy at this point in time.

“We understand that there is a need for test and validation of local herbs. Madagascar has developed its own and was embraced by the Federal Government.

“That has created the urgency for our government to pay attention to the development and promotion of our own indigenous herbal products and remedies offered by others that will lead to an end to COVID-19 pandemic in our country.”

The archbishop called on the government to intensify efforts in the distribution of palliatives to citizens.

He prayed that normalcy should be restored and the world is healed of the pandemic.

The herbal remedy Madagascar has been using to treat COVID-19 patients has reached Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who received portions of the drug from Guinea Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embalo on Saturday, said the drug must be verified before use.

Although there has been the development of some herbal solutions for the infection, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned people to steer clear of unscientific claims suggesting a cure for COVID-19.

Sixty Percent Of Coronavirus Cases In Rivers Are Oil Workers – Wike

1

Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that Sixty percent of coronavirus cases recorded in the state are from oil workers returning from rigs.

ABN TV reveals that Governor Wike disclosed this today when the Management Team of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Port Harcourt.

He stated that it is for this reason that the state government has insisted that oil workers coming into the state must be tested to confirm their coronavirus status as oil workers make up to sixty percent of COVID-19 cases in the state.

The State Chief Executive noted that oil remains the mainstay of the economy and that government actions are not targeted at anybody or organisation.

He recalled that recently the Nigeria Airforce Base, Port Harcourt also quarantined fourteen oil workers out which three tested positive.

“It’s not in anybody’s interest to deny people to carry out their official duties.  Oil is the mainstay of the economy of Nigeria and without it, we that are in this part of the country will find it difficult to function.

“My concern is that companies should always notify the government of workers they are bringing into the state so that our health officials can monitor them.

“So all that we are saying is that we should work together. But people bring in politics that Rivers State is difficult, they don’t want any oil exploration, that is because people want to play politics.

“People say we don’t want foodstuff and livestock to come into the State. That is not correct. What we are saying is that human beings should not be hidden with these items, ” he stated.

The Governor lauded Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited for the support to the state government in its fight against COVID 19, pointing out that he will always ensure that the lives of Rivers people are protected.

Earlier, the Executive Director of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, Mr Udobong Ntia commended the State Governor for measures put in place to contain the spread of COVID 19 in the state, particularly the increase in testing.

He noted measures also put in place by the company to fight the virus and donated  RNA COVID 19 Testing Kits and hospital beds to the state government.

Mr Ntia assured the State Governor of the company’s commitment to supporting his effort in providing safety and good health to the people of the state.

We Will Continue To Repatriate Almajirai – Northern Governors

2

Governors from the 19 States in the North under the aegis of the Northern Governors’ Forum have resolved to continue with the exercise with strict compliance to laid down protocols.

This decision was made despite the call by some members of the National Assembly that almajirai should not be repatriated to their respective States due to the increasing cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Governors urged that they should all strictly follow laid down protocols for profiling, quarantining, testing, transportation, handing and taking over as well as reintegration of the almajirai.

The Governors spoke during their 4th teleconference meeting on Wednesday to review the region’s COVID-19 response and deliberate on other matters relating to its progress and development.

Presided over by its Chairman and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, the Forum acknowledged and commended “the intervention of the Federal Government following their request to President Muhammadu Buhari for the deployment of more security personnel to the region to tackle banditry, kidnapping, insurgency, and other crimes which are threatening livelihoods and preventing farmers from going to their farms.”

On the profiling and evacuation of Almajiris, the Forum noted that “So far, there has been appreciable progress as many States have transferred Almajiris to other States and also received their citizens without any problem.”

The Governors, according to a statement by Lalong’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Makut Macham also maintained their earlier decision to purchase COVID-19 Mobile Testing vans which have already been ordered to boost testing of more citizens, especially in the rural areas.

On enforcing the closure of inter-state boundary roads, the Governors again expressed disappointment that “despite several measures taken, including Presidential orders, there are still violations where people move from one state to another through compromise and use of illegal routes” and vowed to continue to “take further measures to protect their people including the deployment of members of their cabinets and civil servants where necessary.”

The Forum further resolved to continue their appeal to the Federal Government for support to deal with the Corona Virus pandemic, as “the Northern Region now has about 54% of the national cases and 70 per cent of new infections.”
