Kylie Jenner’s Billionaire Status Stripped After She “Forged” Tax Returns

Kylie Jenner’s billionaire status has been struck out by Forbes, months after being dubbed the world’s youngest billionaire.

Recall that in March 2019, the reality show star unseated Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, then 35, as the youngest-ever self-made billionaire (he was 23 when he made his first billion 11 years ago in 2008).

Forbes has now revoked the 22-year-old’s billionaire status, and also accused her of ‘lying about company figures and forging tax returns’ to reach the billionaire status in its report titled “Inside Kylie Jenner’s Web of Lies — and Why She’s No Longer a Billionaire”

The American business magazine which reviewed filings from Coty, the beauty giant which the mother of one sold 51 per cent of her Kylie Jenner Cosmetics to in a deal valued at $1.2 billion in January 2020, found that Kylie’s beauty company “is significantly smaller, and less profitable than the family has spent years leading the cosmetics industry and media outlets to believe”.

Forbes further revealed that the numbers the Kardashian-Jenner family gave for Kylie Cosmetics were questionable, especially after comparing them to the numbers following Coty’s acquisition.

With this new information and the COVID-19 pandemic, Kylie’s net worth is now according to their calculations “just under $900 million.”

The report read;

“More than a third of that is the estimated $340 million in post-tax cash she would have pocketed from selling a majority of her company.

“The rest is made up of revised earnings based on her business’s smaller size and a more conservative estimate of its profitability, plus the value of her remaining share of Kylie Cosmetics—which is not only smaller than the Jenners led us to believe, but is also worth less now than it was when the deal was announced in November, given the economic effects of the coronavirus.

“Revenues over a 12-month period preceding the deal: $177million according to the Coty presentation, far lower than the published estimates at the time.

“More problematic, Coty said that sales were up 40% from 2018, meaning the business only generated about $125 million that year, nowhere near the $360 million the Jenners had led Forbes to believe.

“Kylie’s skincare line, which launched in May 2019, did $100 million in revenues in its first month and a half, Kylie’s reps told us. The filings show the line was actually “on track” to finish the year with just $25 million in sales.”

Stephanie Wissink, an equity analyst covering consumer products at Jefferies told Forbes;

“It’s fair to say that everything the Kardashian-Jenner family does is oversized. To stay on-brand, it needs to be bigger than it is.”

Forbes added that when they reached out to the Kardashian-Jenner family with “questions” on Kylie Jenner’s personal fortune which sits at just under $900 million (with more than a third of her earnings coming from the Coty sale), they stopped answering.

A Washington state high school wrestling coach has been fired for mocking the murder of George Floyd by a white Minneapolis police officer.

Dave Hollenbeck, the first-year Wrestling Coach at Bethel High School posted a photo of himself on the floor, with a knee to the back of his neck as he smiles.

The photo was similar to the images seen in the viral video of Floyd being pinned down by a white Minneapolis cop on Monday before he died.

“Not dead yet I’m doing this for our police officers the media is a race-baiting machine and I’m tired of it,” Hollenbeck wrote on Facebook. “I’m going to speak out every time if you don’t like that I’m sorry but I love All people.. Wake up America.”

The posts have since been deleted.

In a statement released by Bethel School District, they confirmed Dave Hollenbeck has been fired for his insensitive post.

“We have completed our investigation. Dave Hollenbeck is no longer employed by the Bethel School District. His behaviour was not consistent with our equity initiatives and nondiscrimination policies,” said district spokesman Doug Boyles.

Hollenbeck later defended his post in an interview with KIRO 7.

“I did not tell any lies; I showed that I was OK from a knee on my neck. That is it,” Hollenbeck said. “I did not say anything racist and maybe it was insensitive at the time.”

Nigerians To Pay Stamp Duty On SMS, Whatsapp Messages – FIRS

0

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) says Nigerians will now pay stamp duties on WhatsApp messages, SMS, and messages via any electronic platform acknowledging receipt of funds.

The revenue service also stated that stamp duties will be paid on “POS receipts, fiscalised device receipts, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) print-outs”.

According to an information circular published by the agency, and seen by TheCable, Nigerians will also be required to pay stamp duties on SMS acknowledging receipt of funds.

FIRS gave illustrations of situations where Nigerians are expected to pay stamp duties, one of them says: “ABZ Ltd’s chief accounting officer, after receiving a cash payment of N500,000 from Mr XYZ on behalf of ABZ Ltd., composed a message which reads: ‘receipt of N500,000 is hereby acknowledged’ and sent same to Mr XYZ via WhatsApp messenger”.

“In this case, the WhatsApp message acknowledging the receipt of N500,000 constitutes a receipt for which stamp duty is payable.

“Mr XYZ is required to make a disclosure of the details of the transaction using the FIRS e-stamp duty platform or to the relevant stamp duties Commissioner.

“This will lead to assessment and payment of appropriate stamp duties and a consequential issuance of a stamp duty certificate or an acknowledgement.

“Such certificate or acknowledgement will suffice as evidence that stamp duties have been paid and that the electronic receipt has been stamped appropriately.”

The agency adds that “all electronic dutiable instruments or receipts”, including e-mails, short message service (sms), instant messages (IM), any internet-based messaging service, are subject to stamp duty.

The circular, issued in April, clearly stated that “all printed receipts” and “all electronically generated receipts and any form of electronic acknowledgement of money for dutiable transactions” are liable to duty payment.

“Buhari Loves Amaechi Like His Son, Trusts Him Absolutely” – El-Rufai

1

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed why President Muhammadu Buhari loves and trusts Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation like his son.

ABN TV reports that El-Rufai said Buhari loves Amaechi despite opposition due to his great personality and selflessness to the service of Nigeria.

He disclosed that Buhari’s love for Amaechi was the reason he was picked as the Director-General of the presidential campaign twice.

The governor stated this in his birthday message to Amaechi and was contained in a statement signed by the Ministry of Transportation, NAN reports.

He described the former Rivers State governor as the First Minister in Nigeria’s history to hold the position of the Minister of Transportation twice.

El-Rufai insisted that Amaechi has achieved so much within the period due to his unique qualities of inclusiveness.

He said: “President Buhari loves Amaechi like a son, he trusts him absolutely, which is why in spite of all opposition, many attempts to put Amaechi in a bad light, he twice selected him to lead his campaign and also as the Minister of Transportation.”

El-Rufai stressed that Amaechi is a pan-Niger Deltan who loves teamwork and empowers people to do their best.

He added: “Amaechi’s key leadership quality is his sense of inclusion, he likes to bring everyone on board, he loves teamwork, he empowers people to put in their best, he doesn’t pretend to know it all or try to do everything.

“He is one of the few politicians from the Niger Delta that is Pan Nigeria.

“I think in the history of Nigeria there hasn’t been any Minister of Transportation that has been able to achieve the landmark Amaechi has achieved in very difficult circumstances.

“I am very proud of you, am very proud to be associated with you, I am a beneficiary of your friendship, your love and your generosity.

“You have helped me a lot in my campaign, you have raised money for me, you have given me ideas on how to be a better politician and I have learnt a lot from you.

“I am confident that if and when Nigeria is looking for a leader that will take us to a higher level, you will be up there on the frontline among those that will be counted,” El-Rufai said.

Recall that Buhari had felicitated with Amaechi on his 55th birthday.

The president had commended Amaechi for his result-oriented leadership style.

According to Buhari, the former governor’s leadership style has positively reflected on the people.

Buhari Turning A Blind Eye To Corruption Within His Administration – CDD

1

The Centre for Democracy and Development, CDD says President Muhammadu Buhari is turning blind eye to corruption within his administration.

In its five-year assessment report of the achievements and gaps in the anti-corruption programme of the president, the organisation said “malfeasance” by some presidential appointees are being overlooked.

Idayat Hassan, CDD director, said the assessment report showed that Buhari’s administration is also battling with declining fiscal transparency.

“In the first place, the five-year assessment situates anti-corruption as a signature issue around which President Buhari has built a personal political brand, making it the major plank on which he won the historic election of 2015,” the organisation said.

“In the area of achievements, the assessment makes the point about how the Buhari administration has worked to elevate the fight against corruption by placing as its top national policy priority.

“It further notes the empowerment of anti-corruption agencies, and the Buhari administration’s effort to free them up to pursue far-reaching investigations into political and bureaucratic corruption.

“The assessment equally notes that the President pushed through a few key financial management reforms, which have been critical in preventing opportunities for corruption to thrive.

“One of such reforms is the mandatory use of the Treasury Single Account, which has ended the lax and opaque system wherein government monies sat in disparate accounts, which made proper oversight impossible.

“Consequently, the assessment knocks the President for his tendency to condone corruption within his own administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party.

“In this regard, President Buhari gets the flak over accusations that he “consistently turned a blind eye to malfeasance by some of his own appointees and resisted independent oversight of Nigeria’s most scandal-ridden agencies.”

The CDD said the Buhari administration has failed to curb defence and security corruption.

“The assessment asserts that expenditures in the defence and security sector continue to escape public and legislative scrutiny, and mostly occur under emergency procurement processes that lack basic anti-corruption safeguards,” the organisation said.

“Another shortcoming identified by the Five Year Assessment is the failure of the government to achieve the required reforms in the petroleum sector.

“President Buhari who doubles as the Minister of Petroleum Resources, the assessment avers bears personal responsibility for his government’s failure to undertake basic, and long overdue, reforms to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).”
