Iconic Nigerian singer, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known by his stage name, DBanj, has been ensnared in a messy drama in light of the rape and sexual assault stories that are currently rocking Nigerian social media.

The singer, in a new development, has been accused of rape by a lady who says the assault occurred only two years ago.

A content creator, Otunba Benjamin (@action_ben) was the one who broke the story on behalf of his friend on Instagram.

According to Benjamin, his friend was forced to share her story after the Kokomaster joined in preaching against rape on his Instagram page writing,

Benjamin revealed that his friend shared of how Dbanj offered her N200k at an event to sleep with him, but she refused. She then said the singer went to the hotel where she’d lodged for the night and took a spare key from the receptionist, entered her room and raped her.

BREAKING: Court Orders Suspended NBC Boss Kawu, Others To Enter Defence

A Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected the no-case submission made by the suspended Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Ishaq Modibbo Kawu, and two others in respect of the alleged N2.5 billion fraud charge brought against them by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Kawu, Pinnacle Communications Limited, its Chairman, Lucky Omoluwa, and the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, Dipo Onifade were alleged, in the charge, to have misappropriated the N2.5b in the course of disbursing the seed grant for Federal Government’s Digital Switch-Over (DSO) project.

In a ruling on Wednesday, Justice Folashade Giwa-Ogunbanjo ordered them to enter their defence in the case.

Justice Giwa-Ogunbanjo rejected the defendants’ argument that the prosecution was unable to establish a prima facie case against them.

Upon an application by the prosecution, the judge deleted the name of Omoluwa, who died some months ago, from the charge.

Lady Accuses Nigerian Artiste, Peruzzi Of Rape (Photos)

A woman took to Twitter to claim Peruzzi raped her in 2012 and she gave details of how the alleged rape happened.

She says she is choosing to speak now due to the “boldness” of other rape victims.

She claims that she accompanied a friend named Aisha to visit Peruzzi in the blocks of flats popularly called 1004. She says that at night, Peruzzi tried to touch her in the room she was sleeping in with Aisha but she refused.

She says she changed location and went to the parlor downstairs. She claims that while she was there, Peruzzi came again after she had dozed off and allegedly tried touching her. She adds that she objected but he forcefully shifted her underwear and raped her.

She says she never reported to anyone because she was scared and because her parents didn’t know she was in Lagos.

Peruzzi has not reacted to the allegations yet.

Suleiman Muhammad Murkthar @iMurkthar, a Muslim, Curator, Research and Communications Analyst has accused Tony Trace, an ABU Zaria student of raping over 70 girls.

This is Tonnie Trace, he has been described as a serial rapist by girls in @ABU_Campus. In 2018, I was able to track 72 different girls that accused him of rape and sexual harassment. And between yesterday and today I have found 9 more and the numbers are climbing.

The appointment of Professor Godswill Obioma as the new Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the National Examinations Council (NECO) has continued to attract applauds from stakeholders and lovers of education.

ABN TV reports that the Abia State Governor, Okezie Okpeazu said he received the news of Obioma’s appointment “with delight” and commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the right choice of putting a patriotic and diligent person in charge of NECO.
The Abia-born Professor of Mathematics Education and Evaluation was last week named as the new CEO to pilot the affairs of NECO for the next five years at first instance.

In a message of congratulations/goodwill signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, the governor described Obioma as “a pride to Abia State and an outstanding scholar of repute who has stamped his scholarly authority in the educational sector of our country.”
Ikpeazu, who is an academic, recalled the achievements of Obioma, noting that he became a professor of Mathematics Education and Evaluation at the age of 36 in 1991.

According to him, Obioma has for almost three decades been “a beacon of light in public service” holding top positions including Special Assistant, Policy Monitoring and Evaluation to the Military Governor of Abia State in 1994; acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Mathematical Centre in 1997.

He was also Special Assistant, Programmes and Policy to the Minister of Education in 2003; Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council in 2005 and until his new appointment, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ebonyi State.
Ikpeazu expressed confidence that Obioma would discharge the duties of his new office “with his characteristic diligence and a high sense of patriotism.”

He said the new NECO boss would bring his long years of experience in educational administration and planning to bear on the nation’s premier school certificate examination body.
The governor, on behalf of the government and people of Abia, wished Obioma a successful tenure at NECO.

Benjamin Kalu Blasts Anti-Kalu Protesters, Call Them Picketers, Unknown Elements

Following a protest at the National Assembly complex on Tuesday by a group under the aegis Concerned Citizens of Abia North, the member representing Bende Federal Constituency, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has taken a swipe at those behind the protest, describing them as paid protesters and picketers.

ABN TV reports that The group, Concerned Citizens of Abia North had in the protest called for the seat of the senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu is declared wanted over the prolonged legal battle bordering on corruption.

In a release on Tuesday made available to ABN TV, the federal lawmaker, Benjamin Kalu maintained that the protesters are being sponsored by an aggrieved opposition desperate for one final ploy to deprive Abia North of the competent representation of Senator Kalu.

While insisting that they, therefore, do not represent the voice of the people of Abia North, Hon. Kalu said the protesters are unknown faces to him as the representative of Sen. Kalu as well as to leaders of Abia North town unions in Abuja.

Hon Benjamin Kalu emphasised that the ban on inter-state travels is a negation of the claim that the protesters are from Abia North.

Hon Benjamin Kalu also expressed gratitude to the Senate for the support shown to one of their own during this period.

“This publication has become necessary to address the mischievousness of certain impostors who have paraded themselves as Concerned Citizens of Abia North demanding that the seat of the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, be declared vacant.

“As the legislator representing Senator Kalu in the House of Representatives, as a member of the House representing Bende in Abia North, and as an eye witness to the phoney protest by the so-called Concerned Citizens of Abia North at the National Assembly complex today, I confirm that none of the demonstrators was recognizable to me as persons of Abia North extraction. Furthermore, information reaching me from all known associations of Abia North people in Abuja indicate that the soi-disant protesters are unknown elements.

“The foregoing, including the Covid-19 protocols restricting interstate travel from Abia to Abuja FCT, strongly suggest that these picketers are paid protesters hired by an aggrieved opposition desperate for one final ploy to deprive Abia North of the competent representation of Senator Kalu. They, therefore, do not represent the voice of the people of Abia North.

“It must be clearly stated that during his brief absence, Abia North was not deprived of adequate representation as can be seen by the sheer amount and quality of capital projects in the 2020 budget secured by Senator Kalu for the benefit of the Senatorial district.

“Also, all calls by the hired protesters for Senator Kalu’s seat to be vacated are unfounded because, by any form of computation, the number of sittings missed by Senator Kalu during his brief incarceration does not warrant such vacation.

“After all, the fact remains that due to the NCDC recommended Covid-19 protocols, the National Assembly has barely sat this year. Nevertheless, we are certain that at the next sitting of the Senate, Senator Kalu will be present.

“I wish to use this opportunity to thank the Senate for showing unwavering support for one of their own during this trying time; a camaraderie and solidarity that demonstrated exemplary faith in our judicial system, eventually allowing justice to run its full course.

“I also thank the entire people of Abia North for all their prayers and for standing strong during the travails of Senator Kalu. It was Bishop Desmond Tutu who said, “…the texture of our universe is one where there is no question at all but that good and laughter and justice will prevail”. Justice has prevailed for the good of the people of Abia North who are happy to continue enjoying the quality representation by Senator Kalu in the red chamber.

“All aggrieved members of the opposition are hereby cautioned to shun the temptation to undermine Abia North’s senatorial representation for the sake of personal benefit,” he said.
