Late Uwaila Omozuwa had been using church where she was murdered as her reading house for five years until the news of her death broke seven days ago.

ABN TV reports that The church at Osa-Amadasun Street, Ohovbe Quarters, which Uwaila Omozuwa attended and about five minute-walk from her residence were considered a safe spot for her to assimilate and enjoy reading, it turned out to be where her attackers took carnal knowledge of her and left her for dead.

Uwaila Omozuwa’s aggrieved mother, Mrs Joy Omozuwa, explained that “She is my second child, the most gentle of all my children and was always interested in her book. What happened to my daughter is so painful; I never knew this was how she will die. On that fateful day, May 27th, I left home with her and she went to the church to read. For over five years now, she had been going to the church to read, so, that day she did the same thing.

“When the schools were shut as a result of COVID-19 pandemic, she (Uwa) had been going there to study because she said she didn’t want to have any carryover in her examination. I waited till in the evening when I normally called her if it was getting late although she didn’t have a fixed time that she would come. Sometimes she came home at 5 pm, sometimes 6 pm or 2 pm depending on her mood.

“By 5 pm, I tried to call her but her line was not going through. There was a boy who was also a member of the church staying near the church whom she said sometimes came around and she had told me that I should not panic if I didn’t see her on time but unfortunately,

“I didn’t have the boy’s number so I was becoming worried. I saw off a member of our church who came to visit me and by the time I returned, I missed three calls from Mrs Osula who is also a member of the church and stayed close to the church. She asked to come to the church quickly and when I got there, I was told that Uwa had been rushed to the hospital.

“They said they met her with her eyes blindfolded, her mouth tied and her hands tied behind her like a criminal. She was untied and when they noticed that she moved her hand, they quickly took her to Enoma hospital. When I saw my daughter, there was blood all over her body, the white top she wore had turned red with her blood; I looked at her ear, there was blood coming out of it as well as her nose while she had a swollen eye…”

The Presidency has accused the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) which was described as “self-proclaimed Jews”, of using Christianity to wage war against the Nigerian state. 

In the statement released by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and publicity Garba Shehu, IPOB was accused of using Christianity and attempting to drive a wedge between the Nigerian government and its US and UK/European allies.

The Presidency also alleged that there is available evidence to show that the proscribed group is being funded with monthly spending of $85,000 USD since October 2019, with no records of the source of the largesse.

The statement read;

IPOB, SELF-PROCLAIMED JEWS, USING CHRISTIANITY TO WAGE WAR AGAINST THE NIGERIAN STATE

The Presidency wishes to draw the attention of all citizens and the international community to a most misleading campaign spearheaded by the so-called Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) using false allegations of persecution of Christianity against the Nigerian State.

A very deep and wide investigation by an agency of the Nigerian government, working with international partners have made us become aware that there are two, interconnected campaigns being run concurrently by the IPOB in this regard.

Both are using the cover of Christianity – and calling for a US Special Envoy to be appointed to stop the “genocide” of Christians in Nigeria. But the real purpose is to drive a wedge between the Nigeria government and its US and UK/European allies.

IPOB leadership of course self-proclaims as “Jewish,” a position not shared by the generality of the members.

For reasons of convenience, he claims to have an interest in the welfare of Christians – but this is a ruse: the case for independence, the leader believes, is strengthened by “proving” the government of Nigeria is “autocratic”, engaged in a “silent slaughter” of their own citizens along religion and ethnic lines – and that therefore the only viable option for the unique religious and ethnic minority is a sovereign Biafra separate from Nigeria.

Nigerians and the international community are advised to be wary of this divisive campaign, which available evidence shows is being funded with a monthly spending of $85,000 USD since October 2019, with no records of the source of this largesse.

The campaign consists of producing articles in the names of the alleged Christian NGOs’ leaders (of campaign groups created at the time this PR contract with a US lobbying firm was signed) and letters to and from members of Congress to the White House.

Unfortunately, some Members of Congress have clearly been persuaded there is indeed a “Christian persecution” underway in Nigeria – and do so quoting the campaign – and they are known to be taking up the case directly with the White House to appoint the special envoy.

The American charity secured a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and has made presentations to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom.

There is also a UK and European angle of the Campaign, which is more opaque than its US sister campaign – given there is less legal requirement for public filings – but what is known of this at the moment is that their Budget is sufficient to hire four PR firms in the UK, Belgium, France and the US (the latter additional to the above).

They have founded an “NGO/Charity” and a linked web-based campaign named “Stop the Silent Slaughter” which is well designed and complete with video “evidence”-completely concocted.

Members of the alleged Christian NGO have had multiple Op-Ed articles in conservative news websites promulgating their message of a “Christian Genocide”. Some of those articles have also been used as “evidence” in the sister US campaign.

Two of those conservative news websites were co-founded by the owner of the UK PR firm they have hired to generate their publicity as well as an OP-Ed article in the name of a British MP who may have been convinced by their campaign under false pretences.

They have secured additional coverage in France, EU and Germany.

They secured a MPs debate on the “Christian Genocide” in the House of Commons in which staff member of the UK PR was referenced as the “private secretary” to the leader of the UK-based Charity.

It is clear from all of the above that the IPOB’s extraordinarily and dubiously well-funded campaign in the US and UK/Europe is misusing the issue of the welfare of Christians purely to further their own political ends, and it seeks to damage inter-religious dialogue in Nigeria as well as to damage the international reputation of Nigeria.

Nigerians and the international community are hereby advised to ignore this campaign as they have disregarded similar past campaigns originated by this group which has been designated as a terrorist organisation by the Nigerian State.

International groups and societies are welcome to send representatives to Nigeria and give a lie to the false claims made by these terrorist groups who are duping them of their money and involving them in conduct and activities disguised to destroy the harmonious relationships existing between their home countries and Nigeria.

Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of National Leader of the All Progressive Congress(APC)Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is on a rampage.

Folasade Tinubu-Ojo who is also the Iyaloja General of Lagos has shut down Nigeria’s equivalent of the silicon valley, the Computer Village, which is the hub of ICT accessories in Nigeria.

Folasade gave her aides the order, who invaded the village overnight removed signboards of the various associations domiciled in the village with the order that no shop should open for business.

That has been the case. Her order was carried out at a time, when many are just recovering from the lockdown, following the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic. At her behest, Nigerians who survive daily on income from the Computer Village have been locked out.

the Nigerian Daily gathered that her grievance was the refusal of about 5 million businessmen, some of the experts inhabiting the hub to pay the imposed levy of N1000 per day, irrespective of about 15 existing associations, all registered by the Federal Government, in what many have described as a political move to keep the area under control.

When our correspondent visited the area, all the shops were under lock and key, no business was ongoing with the situation very tense at the moment. Sources informed the Nigerian Daily that the situation will likely persist in the coming days.
Some shop owners who spoke said they will never submit to her authority.

They wonder how Folasade Tinubu- Ojo will want to wield her influence in a hub where she has no shop. They told us that leadership in the market is based on the democratic election and challenged her to put up a candidate when elections are due.

the Nigerian Daily also gathered that the hub had already succumbed to a Baba Oloja who also owned no shop in the area but that this time, it will fight to finish. Sources informed us that the relevant association may go to court stop this impunity by the Iyaloja General of Lagos.

Last year, members of the Computer Village protested her decision to impose Iyaloja on them. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo who addressed the issue said the protesters were ill-informed.

“According to our constitution, I can choose anybody from any local government in the state to head the market, all the Iyaloja and Babaloja in all the Lagos markets are my representatives in the market where they operate.

“Kindly educate them that phones, handsets, computers are commodities. They cannot tell us they are not pepper sellers, everybody cannot be textile dealers; they can’t tell us that the computer village will be exonerated from other markets. We have the right to choose for them Iyaloja and Babaloja.

“Those people protesting never approached me to complain. They don’t have the initiative that the person leading the protest has finished his tenure and wants to remain in power…

“Computer village is not just an ICT hub, there are a lot of commodities being sold there; nobody can say it is wrong to select a babaloja and iyaloja for the market. Those that have been selected were not selected because they are Yoruba, in some of our markets in Lagos we have Igbos that were selected as market leaders,” Tinubu-Ojo said.
