Your Best Not Good Enough, Buhari Tells Service Chiefs

President Buhari is unhappy with the current state of the security situation in the country.

Disclosing this to State House Correspondents on Thursday, after a security briefing, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (Rtd.), said the President had charged managers of the nation’s security to redouble their efforts.

According to Monguno, the President said, though the security chiefs had been doing their best, their best had not been good enough for the challenges facing the nation.

He has therefore declared that excuses will no longer be tolerated, even as he said he expects everyone to live up to expectations.

He also expressed displeasure over the lack of synergy amongst security forces and charged the various aspects of the security architecture to work together to solve the nation’s security challenges.

He said the President charged the office of the NSA to meet with governors of the Northwest states and that of Niger State, for briefing and strategic organisation of a response to the Banditry problem in their domains.

Prof. Ibe Donates N1.2m To Aba Sports Club, Pledges More Support

The President of Aba Sports Club, Chief Jerry Kalu has expressed gratitude with the support the club has received from educationist and Chancellor Gregory University Uturu, Prof. Gregory Ibe.

ABN TV reports thatChief Kalu who is the 65th President of the club declared this while receiving a delegation from Prof. Gregory Ibe Foundation in his office.

In a release signed by the PAR, Media & Public Relations of Gregory University Uturu, Sleek Ogbonnaya Ogwo, Chief Kalu while describing Prof. Gregory as a serial philanthropist and committed partner of progress, praised the magnanimity of the Chancellor, whom he said: “has maintained an enviable partnership with Aba Sports Club for many years, which has witnessed the donation of many gifts to the club, including a bus”.

Earlier, leader of the delegation, Hon. Emeka Okafor commended the leadership of Aba Sports Club for initiating and undertaking the construction of many projects.

In his words, the visionary leadership of the club has resulted in “massive expansion of the club on all sides”.

According to Hon Okafor, the pledge is in aid of the construction of a club tractor house and promised to remit the balance of #2M to ensure completion of the project.

Chief Kalu was joined in receiving the delegation by some executive members of the club management.

Instagram celebrity, Pascal Okechukwu aka Cubana Chief Priest has been detained by the Lagos State Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit.

Cubana Chief Priest is being held at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos over misuse of police escorts and weapons as well as unexplained wealth.

His arrest was confirmed by a top police source who said, “We have detained Cubana Chief Priest and he is facing interrogation for misuse of police personnel as well as the illegal use of a weapon and his extravagant and unexplained lifestyle.”

Cubana Chief Priest is popular on Instagram due to his extravagant lifestyle and show-off on the social media platform.

He was arrested weeks after the CEO of Fivestar Music Group, E-Money, was questioned by police over his use of policemen as errand boys.

Insecurity: President Buhari Meets With Service Chiefs

President Muhammadu Buhari is presently in a meeting with the service chiefs.

The meeting is ongoing at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The service chiefs, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin, arrived at the seat of power at about 8:50 am and proceeded straight to the Council Chambers.

President Buhari joined the service chiefs about 10 minutes later and the meeting immediately went into a closed session.

“You’ll Face The Consequences Of Your Actions”, Abia Govt Warns Churches Over COVID-19 Safety Protocols

The Abia state government has expressed dissatisfaction with activities of some churches and markets in the state, accusing them of not keeping to safety rules in curtailment of the spread of coronavirus.

ABN TV reports The Abia government accused some churches of paying lips services by flouting the 50 person maximum per stream in each service and other safety protocols.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to Abia State Government/ Chairman inter-ministerial committee on COVID-19, Barr. Chris Ezem, the government urged the affected churches and markets to get ready to face the consequences of their actions.

“It has come to the notice of Abia State Government that some churches in the state are paying lip service in total disregard to government directives and order on Covid-19 particularly as it concerns the mandatory 50 persons per stream of every church service as well as other necessary safety protocols on general hygiene, wearing of face mask and social distancing during and after church service.

“Equally worrisome is that majority of the said churches have resorted to midweek activities, children ministries etc. thereby creating multiple platforms that can fast-track the spread of the deadly pandemic in the State.

“On the other hand, an on-the-spot inspection to major markets in Aba by the State Enforcement Team revealed outright disobedience and noncompliance to virtually all the protocols and guidelines meant to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

“Consequently, Government has directed the leadership of the affected churches and other religious bodies including, enforcement teams of the various markets in the State to live up to their responsibility of ensuring total compliance to all the government protocol order on the pandemic or be ready to face full consequences of being negligent to their responsibility.

“Government, however, appreciates all law-abiding Abians for keeping faith with it in the fight against Covid-19 while reminding the general public that our Mobile Courts are on ground to prosecute all violators of the prescribed protocols on Covid-19 in the state.

“Government remains highly indebted to all our donors, front line personnel and health workers, security operatives, State and local government enforcement teams, the Press and other voluntary organizations in the State for their collective efforts at curtailing the spread of the deadly pandemic in the State” the release concluded.

The Abia state governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has approved the appointment of Professor Lawrence Nwaneri Chigbu as new Rector of Abia State College of Health Science and Management Technology Aba.

Prof. Chigbu takes over from the former Rector of the college, Prof. Chidi Felix Ezeama whose tenure in office has elapsed, says Secretary to Abia State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem in a release obtained by ABN TV on Thursday.

“The appointment is effective from the expiry date of the tenure of the former Rector.

“To this end, the Governor uses this medium to thank Prof. Felix Ezeama for his positive contributions in the college and wishes him success in his future endeavours” the statement read.

Obaseki To Pick PDP Membership Card Today

Barring any last-minute changes, Governor Godwin Obaseki will today formally announce his mem­bership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) a few days after resigning from his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). ­

A member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) told our correspondent that the governor would reg­ister his membership at his Ward 4 in Oredo LGA of the state after finalising talks with PDP leaders at the national and state levels.

Obaseki, on Wednesday, met with the leadership of the PDP, led by its national chair­man, Prince Uche Secondus, in Abuja, as well as other gov­ernors elected on the party’s platform.

“His return to the APC has been foreclosed due to the lat­est crisis rocking the party.
