Trump Is Well Enough To Return To White House – Doctor

0

President Donald Trump will leave the hospital at 6.30 pm on Monday night despite his doctors saying he is ‘not out of the woods’ after being given a cocktail of drugs to treat COVID-19.

Trump, 74, was admitted to Walter Reed on Friday amid reports he had trouble breathing and had a fever. He has since received care from the best doctors in the country and has been driven around in an SUV to wave at fans who lined up outside to greet him, a move that outraged critics who said he put Secret Service agents’ lives at risk for a political stunt.

On Monday, just four days after he tested positive with the deadly virus, he tweeted: ‘I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of COVID.

‘Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!’

Shortly after his message, doctors appeared outside the hospital to say that while Trump was not ‘out of the woods’, they were satisfied for him to go home.

They refused to share details of his health, like when he last tested negative or even if he would be forced to quarantine when he got out, citing medical privacy laws as reasons not to share information like the results of a lung scan.

The doctors said Trump will receive his fourth Remdesivir dose on Monday night before he leaves the hospital, and his fifth on Tuesday.

The President’s kidney and liver function are both good, they said. His temperature on Monday was 98.1F.

The doctors defended their treatment of him and of the decision to discharge him, saying he has some of the best care in the world at the White House.

‘Every day a patient stays in the hospital unnecessarily is a risk to themselves. There’s nothing being done here that can’t be done safely at home.

‘That’s why we all remain cautiously optimistic and on guard. We all remain cautiously optimistic and on guard because we’re in a bit of uncharted territory when it comes to a patient that received the therapies he has so early in the course.

‘If we can get through to Monday with him remaining the same or improving, better yet, then we will all take the final deep sigh of relief,’ Dr. Sean Conley, the White House Physician, and Navy Commander said during a briefing Monday afternoon.

He later added: ‘He’s back!’

Dr. Coney cited patient confidentiality laws during the press conference when asked about Trump’s lungs.

He however said that his liver and kidney function were good and that Trump did not put any pressure on doctors to release him, despite earlier reports that he was ‘done’ with staying in hospital and was ‘demanding’ to be discharged on Sunday.

‘The president has been a phenomenal patient during his stay here.

He has been working hand in glove. Today it got the point, he’s holding court… going over all the specifics, the testing, what the future is. We’ve been back and forth on what’s safe or reasonable.

‘He has never once pushed us to do anything that was not sage and reasonable,’ Dr. Conley added.

He would not share the results of the President’s lung scans.

‘He appeared to be a little dehydrated on Friday but he was able to recover from that.

‘Everything looks great. There is no evidence of live virus present that he could transfer to others.

‘We’re checking him more routinely than waiting 10 days. We will know as soon as possible – then we’ll look at him clinically. How are you feeling? How are you doing?’

Dr. Conley also would not go into specifics of if Trump would have to quarantine when he got back to the White House.

Fourteen people in Trump’s inner circle have now tested positive with the deadly virus that has claimed more than 200,000 American lives.

He has been desperate to get back to the White House since Sunday and, according to aides, fears that staying in hospital any longer will make him look weak.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany was the latest person in the President’s inner circle to test positive for COVID-19, three days after Trump confirmed he’d been infected.

McEnany, 32, continued going to work at the White House despite Trump testing positive late on Thursday night and she took her mask off on Sunday to brief reporters.

She defended her decision to continue coming to work, saying she is an ‘essential worker’ who was expected there.

She had been in close contact with the President and others at White House who have tested positive but repeatedly tested negatively herself until Monday.

Her assistant, Chad Gilmartin has also tested positive.

‘After testing negatively consistently, including every day since Thursday, I tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning while experiencing no symptoms,’ McEnany said in a statement posted to Twitter.

‘As an essential worker, I have worked diligently to provide needed information to the American people at this time.

‘With my recent positive test, I will begin the quarantine process and continue working on behalf of the American people,’ she noted.

The White House staff are tested every day with rapid testing kits and have been relying on those results to let people back into the building since Trump’s diagnosis last week, even though it is commonly known that it can take several days after someone becomes exposed for their viral load to be substantial enough to yield a positive result.

After McEnany’s diagnosis on Monday, White House staffers were sent an email reminding them to stay home if they feel any symptoms. Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen were both tested again on Monday and tested negative.

It comes amid speculation over when Trump, who has been at Walter Reed Medical Center since Friday night, will return to the White House.

Trump demanded to leave the hospital on Sunday and is worried it makes him look ‘weak’, anonymous sources cited by CNN claim.

On Monday morning, the President fired off 19 early morning tweets reminding America to vote for him and brushed off criticism over his SUV outing.

One source cited by CNN said: ‘He is done with the hospital’ and is concerned about the toll his ongoing treatment for COVID-19 might have on his election chances.

Trump thinks being in the hospital makes him look ‘weak’, the source said.

It comes amid claims that the President knew he had tested positive with the virus on Thursday night but kept it secret during an interview on Fox.

Other sources cited by The Washington Post said he is s bored of staying at Walter Reed and is tired of watching round-the-clock news coverage of his condition.

He is desperate to get back to work in the White House but aides are concerned if he leaves too early, it may be more detrimental to his health.

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows on Monday insisted to Fox News that Trump was in good health and made ‘good progress’. Meadows said he was ‘optimistic’ that the President would be discharged from the hospital on Monday.

Meadows said that a decision would be made this afternoon on whether or not Trump will be discharged but that more consultations were needed.

He also defended Trump’s outing on Sunday, as have other allies including former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and Rudy Giuliani.

Meadows said: ‘He is ready to get back to a normal working schedule. He will meet with his doctors and nurses this morning to make further assessments of his progress.’

In a flurry of tweets starting at 6.30 am on Monday, Trump boasted about the stock markets, promised to deliver more tax cuts, and listed ‘pro-life’, ‘space force’, ‘religious liberty’ and ‘law and order’ as among reasons why he should win again.

Over the weekend, Trump released several video addresses where he promised to be in good health despite his diagnosis, and the White House shared photographs of him working at the hospital.

He claims to have been meeting some of the wounded veterans who are also being treated in the hospital.

On Sunday night, he made a surprise appearance outside the hospital to thank fans who had turned out with signs, flags, and banners wishing him a speedy recovery.

Trump said he was touched by the outpouring of support and wanted to show his appreciation.

But doctors – including one from Walter Reed – say it was irresponsible of him to get into the Presidential SUV with Secret Service agents and risk infecting them.

Dr. James Phillips, a Walter Reed attending doctor, condemned the president’s Sunday afternoon drive, which violated Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

Meadows slapped down the criticism on Monday morning in an interview with Fox.

‘The President expressed appreciation to some of the people outside Walter Reed yesterday. Even that was   getting criticism.

‘How do we think that he got here? We came in Marine One. The agent who’s been with him… we took additional precautions with PPE.

‘A number of folks are just trying to make a big deal of that when indeed, I know that myself and some of the Secret Service detail are right there with him trying to make sure he’s protected each and every day and that he returns to the White House as expeditiously as possible.’

Corey Lewandowski, his former campaign manager, also defended the outing. He told Today that the agents involved volunteered to drive him and came under no duress.

‘The President wanted to thank all the supporters. The detail leader and the driver both volunteered for that assignment.’

‘They were not required to do that.

‘They volunteered. There was a piece of plexiglass between the two agents and the President.

‘The President wanted to show his supporters how much he appreciated them and show that you can still continue to function with COVID-19. He’s a leader. He wants to lead. This was the President out thanking his supporters for supporting him.’

In an interview with Good Morning America on Monday morning, Dr. Phillips doubled down on his claims that it was irresponsible.

‘I don’t know what the benefits of this political stunt were, but I do know what the risks were.

BREAKING: Trump May Leave Hospital Today

US President, Donald Trump says he will be leaving hospital today after successful treatment of COVID-19, ABN TV learnt.

Pres. Trump’s medical team gives a briefing on his condition at Walter Reed Medical Center moments after he tweeted that he would be leaving the hospital later tonight and that he is ‘feeling really good!’

White House physician Dr. Sean Conley is leading the briefing, despite questions regarding his transparency with the press.

He has been vague about the timeline of Trump’s diagnosis and treatment with oxygen and steroids—even admitting that he misled the public over the weekend with the information he’s shared.

Earlier today, WH Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany and two of her deputies became the latest staffers to test positive.

The growing list of COVID-positive members of the president’s circle includes at least 5 members of the current White House staff, his campaign manager, the first lady, former aide Kellyanne Conway, RNC chair Ronna McDaniel, former Gov. Chris Christie, and three GOP senators.

Abia Assembly Takes Shocking Step To End The Killing Of Abians By Fulani Herdsmen

0

Abia State House of Assembly on Monday expressed willingness to end the incessant attack by Fulani herdsmen in Umunneochi and other parts of the state, ABN TV reports.

This is contained in a Matter of Urgent Public Importance brought before the Assembly by the Member representing Umunneochi State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Okey Igwe on Monday.

According to a statement signed by the Media Unit, Office of the Speaker, the lawmaker prayed the House to mandate the Committee on Agriculture to interface with the Traditional Rulers in Umunneochi with a bid to finding a lasting solution to the incessant attacks.

He also prayed the House to urge the Nigeria Police Force and relevant security agencies to intervene to avoid loss of lives.

Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji in his contribution said the Abia State House of Assembly at its 6th Session had already done something about such situations bypassing the anti-grazing Law.

He said lack of implementation of the law has been the major reason for recurrent attacks by rampaging cattle grazers.

“All that is required is to bring the Law into Force”, he said.

While resolving to ensure the full implementation of the law enacted by the 6th Assembly, the Assembly mandated the Chief Security Officers of the respective LGAs to liaise with relevant security agencies including the Abia State Vigilante Service in terms of supporting them in patrolling their LGAs.

The lawmakers also tasked the Ministry of Homeland Security to be up and doing in the Implementation of the Law passed by the Abia State House of Assembly.

Rep. Akin Alabi Files Motion Before House Of Reps To Dissolve SARS

0

Akin Alabi has filed a motion before the House of Representatives asking for an urgent dissolution of the dreaded police special anti-robbery squad, SARS.

Mr Alabi, APC-Oyo, said there is enough evidence in the public domain to proscribe SARS immediately, warning that the unit has committed enough atrocities.

Mr Alabi said SARS operatives have become so lawless that even the police inspector-general can no longer contain their excesses, decrying how Nigerians now harbour untold fear of the deadly and corrupt unit.

“Policing in Nigeria continues to fall short of modern practices where citizens should be treated with utmost respect and decorum, therefore making it very difficult for an average citizen to truly trust that the police are their friends,” Mr Alabi said.

Lawmakers were notified of the motion today and would likely be considered at a plenary this week.

The demand came after a widespread outcry against SARS deadly and crooked conduct led to an emotional weekend for the country.

Inspector-General Muhammed Adamu responded to the outrage by announcing yet another restriction of SARS officers from the road, a decision Nigerians, including Mr. Alabi, said was superfluous and did not go far enough.

Take Your Complaints To The Governor First, Abia Speaker Tells Protesting Obingwa Community

A group of protesting indigenes of Umuelendu Village in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State has protested to the Abia State House of Assembly over what they claimed to be the illegal takeover of their lands by some people.

Speaking on behalf of the protesting group, Mr Okechukwu Sunday said, “Mr Speaker, we are here for just one reason, we want to bring to your notice the plight that has befallen Umuelendu Village in Obingwa Local Government Area.

“Our brothers and sisters are all here because of the ill-treatment meted to us by the Abia State Government.

“Let reason prevail against the selfish interests of a few individuals who want to take over our land.

“We don’t have enough land even though we have many children; we are not happy, Umuelendu people are not happy. In 2017, we experienced this same issue when a Medical Doctor slumped and died”, members of the protesting community said.

Responding, the Speaker commended the protesting group for their peaceful disposition in making their feelings known.

“I believe that you people are from Obingwa Local Government Area, and the Governor of the State is from your community.

“The Governor is your brother. He is also from Obingwa like yourselves. This is a failure on your part because I believe you could have sent a representative to the Governor to tell him your grievances first for possible resolution. You know yourselves that he is a listening Governor and that he would have listened to you,” the Speaker advised.

The Speaker thereafter urged the community to make out time to see the Governor and present their complaint to him before presenting it as a petition to the House of Assembly, if there was still any need.

“It will be wrong as a House for us to come and do anything when you have not first briefed the Governor on the matter,” the Speaker concluded
