The House of Representatives Joint Committee on Human Rights Violations by SARS has put out dedicated lines and email for the general public.

This was announced by the Chairman House Committee on Justice, Hon Ugonna Ozurigbo in a press statement.

The numbers are ONLY for WhatsApp and SMS messages.

The statement said, “For those whose relations, siblings or wards are under unlawful detention or being currently held by police for protesting against SARS.

“For those whose relations, wards or siblings have been killed by SARS

“For those who have fallen victim of SARS brutality or suffered unlawful seizure of their property”.

In a chat with ABN TV on Saturday, Hon Ozurigbo said the private email was created for people to have confidence in the process, noting that their identities will be protected.

He said in few hours after creating the email, over a thousand complaints were received.

BREAKING: FG Reopens Eko Bridge, Marine Bridge Monday

The Federal Government has approved the reopening of the Marine Beach Bridge and the Eko Bridge in Lagos State.

ABN TV reports, the government had shut the Eko Bridge and Marine Beach Bridge in March and May respectively for repairs while declaring it unsafe for public use.

But the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, SAN, on Saturday, directed that both bridges be reopened to traffic on Monday, October 19, 2020.

This was contained in a statement on Saturday by the ministry’s Director of Press and Publicity, Boade Akinola, titled, ‘After Emergency Repairs By FG, Fashola Approves Reopening Of Eko, Marine Bridges On Monday’.

Former chairman of Dekina Local Government Area in Kogi State, Hon. Adejo Akowe is dead.

Hon. Adejo Akowe until his death was a Chieftain of the APC.

ABN TV learnt He died following an injury from an attack from unknown gunmen. He would be buried according to Christian rites as would be announced by the family.

The Former Chairman was last week’s attack in Ayingba. He was admitted in the Lokoja Specialist Hospital before moving him to National Hospital Abuja where he finally died.

He died at National Hospital, Abuja at about 21:20hrs of Friday 16th October 2020, exactly the same time, hours, and day he was attacked and shot by some unknown assassins at Domibite restaurant in Anyigba.

Late Adejoh Akowe, was said to have attended the just concluded APC primary election that affirmed the candidacy of Hon. Prince Ishaq as the flag bearer of the party APC in Dekina town.

He returned to Anyigba late night of Friday on the 9th of October, and went to Domibite to eat, was said to have been shot by the unknown gunmen that night.

He was immediately rushed to Maria Gorretti Hospital, Aynigba.

Abia Assembly Member Narrowly Escapes Kidnap

The member representing Isuikwuato Constituency, Abia State, Hon. Barr. Emeka Okoroafor has narrowly escaped kidnap along Akoli-Ahaba Imenyi Road in the state.

Speaking with ABN TV on Friday, the lawmaker said while he was lucky to escape from kidnap in the major road linking Umuahia/Ohafia/Arochukwu, one Barr. Nwosu was not lucky as he was kidnapped and released after ransom payment.

Hon. Okoroafor further noted that several bullets were shot at his vehicle.

He however expressed dissatisfaction that the recurrent kidnapping has been taking place at a particular spot, calling on security agencies to track down the perpetrators of the acts.

While stating that the heads of security agencies in the state have not shown concern, he alleged that no serious effort has been made to arrest the situation.

According to the lawmaker, the huge sums of money the suspected kidnappers received from families of victims has emboldened them.

Orji Kalu Condoles With Awolowo Family

Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Kalu has expressed sadness over the passing of Reverend Tola Oyediran (Nee Awolowo), eldest daughter of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

Extolling the virtues of the deceased, Kalu described the late Reverend Oyediran, as an epitome of peace and humility.

Kalu stressed that the deceased contributed to the media industry, having served as Chairman, Board of Directors of African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN), Publishers of the Tribune titles during her lifetime.

In a condolence message, the former Governor condoled with the government and people of Ogun state over the demise of their illustrious daughter.

He said, “I convey my heartfelt and sincere condolences to the entire Awolowo family over the demise of Reverend Tola Oyediran, former Chairman of Board of Directors of African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN), Publishers of the Tribune titles.

“The deceased was a devout christian, community leader and philanthropist, whose good deeds will continue to speak for her.
“The late Reverend Oyediran, did not deviate from the ideals of her late father”

While praying to God to rest the soul of Reverend Oyediran, Kalu commiserated with Dr (Mrs) Olatokunbo Awolowo -Dosunmu, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, Mr Segun Awolowo Jr. and other members of the Awolowo family over the sad loss.

Again, Buhari, Jonathan Meet Over Mali Crisis

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed delight that the Mali situation had calmed down considerably, following interventions by leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Femi Adesina, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, in a statement in Abuja, said Mr Buhari stated this when he received updates on the Mali situation from the Special Envoy/Mediator to the West African country, former President Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday.

The president said: “We can’t do hop, step and jump like other developed nations of the world, but one is delighted at the successes recorded.’’

After the intervention by the military in Mali, ECOWAS had insisted on a transition government led by a civilian, and return to Constitutional order within 12 to 18 months, among others.

While giving updates, Mr Jonathan said the mission given to him by ECOWAS leaders was almost fully done, as a government with a largely civilian face has been inaugurated.

“The President has been sworn in, the Prime Minister, and Ministers too. The military has only four portfolios for serving officers, and the government has taken off.

“The Council, which will work like parliamentarians, will be inaugurated soon,” Jonathan said.

He added that the Chairman of ECOWAS, President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana would formally brief West African leaders soon.

Prospective Corpers To Undergo COVID-19 Test As Camp Reopens – FG

All prospective corps members will undergo mandatory COVID-19 tests ahead of the reopening of orientation camps nationwide, the Federal Government has said.

The FG also said all National Youth Service Corps orientation camps would reopen effective November 10, 2020.

Mr. Sani Aliyu, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, stated this during a briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

“We have developed guidelines with the NCDC (Nigeria Centre for Disease Control) and the NYSC in the preparation for the reopening of the orientation camps on the 10th of November, 2020,” Mr Aliyu said.

The orientation camps have been shut since March this year as part of measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The killing of Policemen with their rifles stolen is trending in Delta State.

The latest is the killing of a Mobile Policeman, Inspector Gbadura.

He was killed at a filling station in Etuwewe junction along Deco road in Warri on Thursday night about 9 pm.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya in a text message confirmed the report this morning.

She said, “True, you already have the same details I have”.

This is coming after a Policeman and a civilian were recently killed at Eku Community in Ethiope-East Local Government Area.

Another Mobile Policeman was also killed on Sunday, October 11 at a shopping mall in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area. He was killed for daring to stop the gunmen who were trying to burgle into the shopping mall.

All of these are happening as the #ENDSARS# protests continue nationwide in spite of the ban on the activities of Officials of the “Special Anti-Robbery Squad” by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

With the developments, the lives of Policemen seem to be in great danger in Delta State, Nigeria as no one including the media speaks for their interest.

The Divisional Police Officer, “B” Division in Warri, CSP Benjamin Igometi was in a state of mourning when Our Correspondent him over the mobile policeman who was shot dead. He couldn’t speak enough. He was so cold as he managed to confirm the report.

The roads in Delta State are almost lacking in the presence of Policemen on the roads.

After the ban by the IGP that all SARS Officials should leave the roads, about 20 persons were kidnapped along the Ughelli road in Agorfure motors, a commercial tricycle and other private vehicles.

The absence of the Policemen whether good or bad is giving rise to the activities of the criminals in the State and elsewhere in the Country.

In a telephone chat with Our Correspondent in Warri, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa bemoaned the spate of killing of Policemen by gunmen in the State.

CP Inuwa said the police will do all it can to unravel the brains behind the killing of Policemen in the State.

While noting that no one is speaking for the interests of the Policemen who are also citizens of the Country as the #ENDSARS# protests, CP Inuwa said the protesters blocked the Onitsha head bridge from the Asaba end yesterday.

He said, he has warned his men not to provoke the protesters who are equally looking for who will provoke them so that they start destroying the properties of innocent Nigerians as well as attacking Policemen in the process.
