ABN TV reports that Kanu’s parents; HRH Eze Israel Okwu-Kanu and Lolo Ugoeze Sally Okwu-Kanu who died last year were laid to rest on Friday, February 14th, in Afaraukwu-Ibeku, Umuahia in Abia State.

Kanu who was last seen in Nigeria on September 10, 2017 after some soldiers invaded his residence in Afaraukwu was absent at his parents’ funeral.

Shortly after the burial, Kanu took to his page on Facebook to appreciate his followers who massively attended the burial despite his absence and the tensed atmosphere.

He wrote:

The best of the very best
The chosen children of the Most High
The hardest core of them all
The most unique and formidable assembly of men, women and children on this earth
The only movement that march and the foundations of hell tremble; even Satan is afraid of IPOB

With my parents out of the way, very soon we shall march and the Sun will not set on that glorious day until the vandals are vanquished and the tricolour of the rising sun raised never to be lowered again.

I thank this great family of IPOB all over the world for the love you showed my parents, who are resting in the bosom of the Most High. From the bottom of my heart I thank all those that put the enemies to shame today, but above all I thank Almighty God Chukwu Okeke Abiama pure ime ihe nile for his infinite grace upon our lives.

The shocking incident was confirmed by DSP Celestina Kalu, the Police Public Relations Officer in Port Harcourt, River State in Nigeria who arrested the boy over threat to life after threatening to kill his mom to cover up his shame.

According to reports, Ekanem, the boy in question procured the love charm (for girls) from a native doctor in Port Harcourt. The native doctor told him to try it on his mother to confirm if it really works.

That was when curiosity led him to try the potion on his mom but luck eluded him and got his mum impregnated in the process.

A former member of the Nigeria senate, Sen. Victor Umeh has expressed gratitude to the President, Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of Nigeria Army for allowing the burial ceremony of Nnamdi Kanu’s parents, His Royal Majesty Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and his wife, ABN TV reports.

Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is on the wanted list of Nigeria’s government for jumping bail on terrorism-related charges.

He was absent during the burial ceremony which took place on Friday, February 14, 2020.

Umeh said, “I have been here, and I can say, I’m happy. Because the atmosphere here is peaceful. There is nothing here to indicate that anybody wants to disrupt the burial rites of our late traditional ruler, Eze Israel Kanu.

“Burial is a solemn thing, and the federal government has done well allowing us to bury our brother and his wife. That is the way it should be because death awaits everybody. I read about the altercation between Nigeria police and the leadership of IPOB on social media and newspapers, but it didn’t stop us from attending this burial.

“It is our obligation to bury somebody in true Christian way. For the fact that the government allowed us to bury them, we say thank you to them. We also ask them to use that same spirit to pursue peace in Nigeria. Peace can only come to Nigeria through a firm show of accommodation for as small as this”.

Egypt’s Zamalek Win African Super Cup, Beat Esperance 3-1

0

Egypt’s Zamalek outclassed Tunisia’s Esperance 3-1 to win the African Super Cup in Doha on Friday, thanks to a brace from Achraf Bencharki.

It was the fourth time in Zamalek’s history that they lifted the trophy as the African Confederation Cup holders overpowered the current African Champions League winners.

Youssef Mohamed ‘Obama’ Fayed headed in Zamalek’s second minute opener, to rouse the noisy Egyptian fans who outnumbered their Tunisian counterparts.

VAR was used to rule on a 47th minute foul by Zamalek’s Mahmoud Attia which brought him a booking with Esperance’s Abdelraouf Benguit levelling with a penalty.

But it was Bencharki who stole the headlines with a clinical shot in the 57th minute that delighted the near-capacity crowd.

Esperance substitute Mohamed Ali Ben Hamouda had an 86th minute effort disallowed because of a foul, all but sealing the result for Zamalek’s jubilant fans.

Morocco’s Bencharki drove home Zamalek’s third and final goal in injury time.

The result is a major boost for Zamalek who face Esperance again in a fortnight in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Friday’s fixture helped to draw a line under the chaotic clash that saw Esperance win the African Champions League last season after Wydad Casablanca had abandoned the final in protest at the organisers’ decision not to use VAR.

The Super Cup is an annual one-off match and was staged in Africa from its inception in 1993 until last year when it moved to Qatar.
